I've posted this on NZWP as well so sorry if anyone sees this on both forums but I really wanna solve my lil dilema!!
I've finally decided to get off my bum and get a photo enlarged that I've wanted to since my wedding day. Only reason I've got sudden inspiration is that it's our 6 month anniversary so was actually looking through my photos..
Here is the photo I want to frame..
Thing is, because it looks so neat I wanna blow it up really massive. About A1 or A2 size roughly. Thing is I've looked in shops to find a suitable frame but I can't. I came close and found a wooden one however I think this photo needs a very dark photo frame to look really good.
Anyone know of any sites or anything where I could find a suitable frame or get one made for me? I've had a look on trade me. I knew I wouldn't find anything but it was worth a shot. I know of the windfall gallery on george street do frames but because of such a big frame I want to shop around as I know it's going to cost a bit.

It could be more expensive, but maybe the best option is to go to a picture framer and get it done professionally.

You're right, you'll probably need a black or silver frame.
Have you tried Art for Arts Sake? not sure if they're just in wellington though..

have to say that the photo would look divine on canvas - no need for a frame and perfect for that type of photo - have you looked into that as you can enlarge it and will look amazing without the need for a frame...

bombshell, no I hadn't thought of that, but I love the canvas look and I agree, it would look awesome done like that. But how does one go about doing that?

Stacey the place on the the corner of Princess and Church st, by the car yard. That place should do it for you.

I was SO going to suggest canvas too! It's such a beautiful photo Stacey, and really, the photo itself is already framed by the beautiful gateway.
Go canvas framing shops may do photos on canvas too. Just a matter of asking I think.

Stacey I don't know the answer to your question (although if you get a frame I would definitely go dark)... but I just wanted to pop in and say what a gorgeous photo! And such a good idea to blow it up I hope you have a good place in your house for it, it's beautiful.

if you look in the wedding mags or house and garden in those back advertising pages there are always canvas places....local photo shops should know too...for a A4 size i think it is around $60 - 80 and larger about $140...and you could pay a framer the same to be framed...also there are some canvas people on trade me (had a friend use her bid on one for her wedding photo)

I agree with the canvas option. Just a question seeing as your getting it blown up so large. Was the pic taken on 35ml or large format negs or digital. if it was taken on 35ml the pic may go quite grainy.
BTW it is a very lovely pic!

LOL, looks like great minds think alike... I was going to suggest canvas too
Jennz had some of her photos done like that (I think ) sao she might be able to help you as to where to get it done, otherwise I have seen it advertised in the window of art for art's sake too.
Oh yeah - gorgeous photo btw

I used www.canvasphoto.co.nz to get one of my wedding pics done - they were great, and I LOVE the final result.
Just be aware though that the edges of the photo get wrapped round onto the mounting frame, so it kind of ends up cropped. Just something to consider!
What a gorgeous photo!!
