Hello all - getting ready for IVF in October and wondering how much alcohol is OK for my DP to drink in the lead up. He normally has 2 stubbies of beer a night, a few more on the weekend. Has anyones fertility specialist given advice regarding this, my booklet only talks about the woman drinking during IVF. We are having IVF due to my endo, but his morophology is only a few percent off the abnormal range (but thankfully got good motility and count). Also interested about coffee intake for him too...
Thanks ladies, looking forward to getting to know you as we start this rollercoaster in a few weeks!

Hello lala1739,

I've been told that men make their swimmers three months in advance so it could be good to be healthy around that time. A good quality zinc is supposed to be good too. I've also read somewhere that small amounts of caffeine can be good for sperm but not for us (sigh).

I've gotten a bit heavy with my partner in the past about not doing certain things but I think it just ends up stressing him out and making me annoyed. Now, I just do it silently by feeding him healthy food and buying him vitamins ... healthiness by stealth.

All the best for your upcoming ivf.

Our specialist told both of us to give up on alcohol 3 months prior and DH to start taking Menevit from that time as well. He's told us as well about the male cycle of 3 months, so that's the same. I try not to be too hard on my partner either, find he's more involved and willing to do the right thing when he thinks he came up with it himself, ;) Good luck lala!

Hi all for our first stim we were unprepared as we started treatment 2 weeks after seeing FS.

We are doing stim antaganist cycle in next few days and we have made some lifestyle changes. Both of us have not had coffee including decaf for last three months. We have reduced alcohol intake - i have 1/2 glass every 2-3 weeks or so and same for DH.He has been on menevit for last couple of months. I have been on elevit but recently changed to blackmores conceieve well. I dont know how much this will play a part but because we need to do ISCI we figure it all may play a part. I have also been doing acupuncture as well. It is hard though when everyone is telling you different things.

I would also take on board with the FS is saying as well.

I do dont put too much pressure on DH - he finds lack of coffee quite hard!!

I have also reduced my tea intake will have 1-2 cups per day and after that is peppermint or non caffeine drink.

Good luck.

MaryNZ - sounds very familiar, a grumpy conversation with DP is what lead to my post - although it wasn't pleasant at the time, it must have worked as noticed no beers this week and he's drinking tea not coffee - and bless him, he hasn't even made a fuss or pointed it out to me! LOL at healthiness by stealth too
