Just a quick question as to shoes...
Joey is now well and truly a walking bubba and likes to walk everywhere so needs to wear shoes when we are out and about. I am just a bit worried about the sizing.
Can anyone tell me how I should go about fitting the shoes? How big is too big? etc.
Thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't get the shoe to big. Take him and try them on. His foot should be able to get into the shoe without a struggle and when you push down at the toe there should be a small (1cm or so) bit left for him to grow a little. If you buy the shoe too big then they struggle to walk.

i took my boy to hannahs and got them to do a proper sizing - i didnt buy shoes from them tho.
and i think that the more flexible the shoe the better, their bones are very soft and flexible at the mo and it is too easy to damage them. i have only just now brought tobys first pair and he hasnt even worn them out yet.

I used to work in a shoe shop, and the recommendation we gave mums (and dads) was to allow a thumb width of space at the front.
Would be best to get Joey to try them on and go for a walk to check that he won't trip over if they're too big!

Head to a shoe shop where there is someone who knows how to fit shoes properly. For Han's first pair I went to Gubbs Shoes in town, just up from Courtney. The first pair of shoes are most important to be fitted properly (Or so I read somewhere).
Be aware that shoes are sized differently... even if they say they are the same size. So he might fit size 4 in one pair and size 5 in another. So confusing!

You need to be able to bend the shoe backwards and forwards. For ages Ella just wore those baby shoes with a very soft sole. You can get some with a waterproof sole on the bottom too. Look at The Warehouse, Hi Hippo often have a good range of baby shoes.

you have to be able to bend em, we took laura to a shoe shop as well, enigma shoes in Moera their shoes arent even heiniously priced ;)
our probelm is she has chubba feet so while she fits em length wise its hard to get her foot into shoes.. especially when shes in the throes of a tanty (all hers are maryjanes..but not really helpful to you hehe)

Maya was in the Bobux for ages after she started walking, then in the soft soled ones you get from the warehouse, but I had her first pair of proper soled shoes fitted at Hannahs.

Thanks guys! I might go and get him properly fitted. The thing is that my MIL sent us about 8 pairs of GRORGEOUS leather shoes of various sizes, so I need to see which of these fit the bill...

LOL my Dad bought 2 pairs of cute leather "first shoes" from the markets in Melbourne for the gremlins. Then I discovered that one 'pair' was actually 2 different sized shoes

Hehehehe a friend of hubby's brought us back these cute sandals that squeak (oh dear gawd... ) but we had two of the right foot. Luckily for me (NOT!) they brought back 2 pairs of the same sandals and had mistakenly given us 2 right feet. I don't think we'll lose Ashlee in them!

I had a cute pair of shoes for Ella when she was around 5 months too.. just real baby shoes but I decided not to put them on her. They need to have been walking for a while before they can wear real shoes. We used bobux for around the house when Ella first started to take steps.
