OK I know there have been previous threads about these, but there are a few coming up and I can't be bothered searching for them!
So its Hannahs first birthday party in a week and a half and I need to decide what food to have. There will probably be around 15 adults and 4 or 5 one year olds. I wont even bother giving you ideas Aimee......I am totally going over board with Zaara's party.....But I would like to know too....for Zaara's second birthday party!!!
I think you could have, small samies, sausage rolls, mini pizza, spring rolls, those small sausages (what are they called?)....small maffins and cake ofcourse. for grown ups you could do a cheese board etc.... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We were lucky in that I hired Maya's daycare centre for the afternoon so that kept the kids entertained. But they were mostly older kids. Maya wasn't fussed with being entertained so much, she just wandered around and got lugged around by various family members and friends.
Food wise I just did afternoon tea type things: cheerios, sausage rolls, chopped up fruit, crackers, biscuits etc. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

we went over broad for james frist i had food wise for the kids chciken nugget ,pizza,cherrios,chips and fairy bread and for the adults it was chessen food from a local takeaway, mussles,salads,hot chips,ect and for games we played pas the pacles (nice and easy) and dress the mummy was very funny good luck and rember to enjoy it ------------- <a href="http://lilypie.com"><img src="http://b4.lilypie.com/nLJ5p13.png" alt="Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker" border="0" /></a> |

that place in palmy called fun-to-go toys, is great - you can hire slides, baby stuff, little cars all sorts, very reasonable and you get em for a week. their website is the same.. fun-to-gotoys.co.nz i think.. lol
doesn't take much to entertain 1 yr olds, blow up a few ballons and have em on the floor and that creates enough of a distraction for a wile... that's the nice thing about having 1 yr olds.. they don't take much to distract most of the time. you could also put different things in the balloons like rice, stones, water, material, string, which makes it interesting cos they bounce differently and make noises when you shake them. but just watch, cos if they burst there's the potential for alot of mess and possibly stuff going in little mouths that shouldn't. I find anything mini-sized great for parties cos otherwise they just don't eat it, or leave half of it, so you could make mini pikelets - (i think you can buy them too - pikelet bites) mini choccy chippy bikies or mini meal mates and snax.. sammies etc.. pretty much the stuff you'd give them to snack on, so maybe some fruit cut up, some packets of raisins.. heaps of other stuff. and cake. gotta have that. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

Hmmm toy library is a good idea, I never thought about that.
When Hannah's 2nd birthday came around (her 1st got joined with Christmas plans) I put together chippies, cake and juice and joined with another family for a small afternoon tea. Didn't want to overwhelm her! Although I'm starting to wonder how far to go with 3rd birthday this year.... Someone suggested pass the parcel, Hannah would easily get the idea of that. I find food ideas easy but that's about as far as I've got with how many to invite and activites to do lol Maybe we need different posts for different age birthdays lol ------------- |

| Jake loved pikelets and cream for his birthday - and as we in japan and they'd never had them before, all my japanese friends and their kids loved them too. Lewis' mum made a neat layered jelly cake. the kids enterainted themselves with bubbles mostly. I'm in the process of pinata making at present. We will play "Blues Clues treasure hunt". For jake's we didn't have much in the way of games, but we did have a book that everyone signed. As food food, I'm making chicken nibbles, spring rolls, stuffed mushrooms, plain wine biscuits, with icing and lollies to form faces. chicken nuggets (homemade), cheerios, a bowl of sauce for Jake, i have a list somewhere... |

We didn't do much for the kids at Andrew's 1st party as there was only 3 young children - the rest were adults and we had a BBQ. I'm taking the easy option for Andrew's 3rd birthday and it's going to be at McDonalds with 4 other children from daycare. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |
