| Hi, can anyone tell me if Ural sachets for UTIs are safe to take in pregnancy, I spent ages searching on the internet but couldn't find anything useful. |

As far as I know they are. I was always offered them but I can't stand them. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I'm so packing mine in my hospital bag then! They're safe during pregnancy as far as I know. Cranberry juice helps too (but not as effective as Ural - more of a preventative). ------------- Andie |

Yep got Uti thru out last pregnancy and took them. They wouldn't give them to you and would have a warning if you weren't s'pose to. A quick call to your midwife would put your mind at ease if it helps ------------- Ann

| Thanks for that, I'm loath to call my midwife again for a while unless it's serious - I've been bugging her quite a lot recently and she sounded a bit exasperated last time I called her about something! |

It might not have been you Cat, I got stressed coz my midwife sounded a bit that way when I called her once and I felt like I was harassing her, but it turns out she was in the delivery suite delivering a baby!
If you think you have a UTI it is important to get antibiotics tho as the Ural will help the symptoms but not cure the bacteria (so speaks the expert - I have had so many that I have to take a prophylactic antibiotic every day to stop myself getting them). And UTI's/cystitis can cause premature labour if left untreated. Your GP can prescrbe them tho if you don't want to call your m/w and as it is maternity related the visit should be free. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Ural is fine and dandy during and post pregnancy. It neutralises the acid in your pee so that it doesn't hurt so much when it comes out. Baking Soda does the same thing - but baking soda in water doesn't taste so nice. However, if it's the middle of the night, and you don't have any Ural sachets and you're desperate...... ------------- |
