What do you serve up at your children's Birthday Party's?

We've got our 1st one coming up in a couple of weeks and don't really know what to have.

Gotta have cheerios...and a reasonable amount cause all the adults eat them too downfall, they're not cheap anymore.

Fairy bread, bits of fruit or standard finger food you'd feed C.

DD's first birthday was all adults except for her! So we pretty much served ordinary adult afternoon tea (with cherios and a luscious cake, of course!). She was BLW so ate plenty of grown-up food anyway.

Birthday parties at her daycare often feature cupcakes, chocolate crackles, gingerbread men/shapes - just baking of one kind or another, I guess cos it's easy to send in a container.

Berries are a big hit with the kids too but might be a bit early yet.

Chicken nuggets always go at our parties, sausage rolls are easy and every eats (well except me hehe) and I make a yummy pasta salad which usually the adults gobble up

There will be kids and adults mostly one year olds a few pre-schoolers as well.

cherrios are a must
so far DD's favourite finger foods are cherry tomatoes and mandarins

kebakat - what's your pasta salad recipe?

we've got use of a bbq at the venue something like that would go nicely with a sausage and a bit of bread

Garlic bread always disappears too. My kids love it and all adults love it...

Pasta salad is easy. 1 bag of large spirals - the green/red/white ones are better than just white.. cook that up and then in a large serving bowl add 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup oil, tsp of ginger, tsp of crushed garlic, 1/4 cup sugar and thats your sauce.. Add to that some unsalted roasted peanuts, sunflower seeds/pumpkin seeds and chopped capsicum (if its in season).. I usually use about 1/2 cup of peanuts and 1/4 cup ea of sunflower and pumpkin seeds. you can add more or less of those but it gives it good texture. It's best made the night before and then every now and then just toss the pasta so the sauce really gets into all the pasta. It tastes 100% better cold so keep it in the fridge and its good for a couple of days. It's really tasty and simple
