Ok - this came up on another thread but thought i would start a new one here.

I am transiting through Singapore Airport with DD1 (age 3) and DD2 (5 months). We have about 14 hours each way but have booked into a transit hotel. Just be me - no DH.

I have read on the other threads there are such joys as a playground and butterfly garden.

Does anyone have any tips on other things to do in the airport? Will these attractions be open during Singapore's night time hours?

Changi is a great airport and there is plenty to do. There is even a swimming pool to use (though I don't know whether it is open at night.) Singapore is easy to get around - the public transport system is great is you feel brave enough to head out for a couple of hours with the kiddies. (I didn't have any problems as a transit passenger leaving the terminal but I guess you could double check with a travel agent). I think there is a playground in every http://www.changiairport.com/at-changi - terminal.

I LOVE Changi airport!!!

It's so clean and beautiful, and so so easy to get around.

There is a fast train that goes between terminals, tons of shops, playgrounds, super slides, a butterfly garden which is lovely, the swimming pool was AWESOME and I cannot emphasise enough how fantastic it was to have a swim and a shower. The best $13 I ever spent while in transit, and I'm fairly sure these things are all open 24/7, but do check the site to be sure (and pack your togs in your flight bags!!!)

Their website is very helpful, they also have an iphone app.

You can take a guided tour around singapore if you are in transit for over 4 hours (check for details on the Changi site), or it's easy to get around the city if you are brave enough to head out on your own - the taxis are cheap, the food is cheap, the shopping is awesome! Little India is very much like India lol, and Chinatown is interesting. Orchard Road is the best place for shopping, but you may not want to do that with kiddies.
Singapore is a fantastic city - the zoo and bird parks are well worth a visit and the kids would love them, if the time of day that you are there works out for that; you have plenty of time to visit them for 2 hours or so and not be rushed. The zoo is open at night too.

Hope that helps. Have fun :)

It will be overnight in singapore so i am not to keen on heading outside (and dont want to deal with immigration if i don't have to).

Also it will be just me with the two girls so think the swimming pool will be out as i cant hold onto DD2 and keep an eye on DD1 at the same time (shame, cos i can see the appeal of a swim after the flight!)

i am hoping to sleep through most of it in our transit hotel, but am keen on the butterfly garden, and a visit to the playground before setting off on the second leg of the journey sounds great for letting DD1 let off some steam!
