Has anyone on here studied Horticulture? I was looking at doing it through my local polytech and just wanted to know what others have thought about their studies. Thanks

I studied at UNITEC in Auckland for 1 semester. I found it quite good but the course ended up being more about how to runa plant business that ecological stuff that I wanted to know. One good thing was there was lots of practicals, I thought that was a must.. its alot easier to memorize plant names etc when you have a plant you can relate it to :) maybe just decide what area you would like to look into and make sure the course will help with that. goodluck with your studies!

Yep I did it through SIT via distance learning. It was free. I found it pretty good, I did the general hort course, and then started the organic one but didn't finish it as I was pregnant and found it a bit hard to get through while not feeling the best.

I did Environmental Management through SIT and it was a really good quality course.  The course was free, except for the course materials (about $60 a paper for my one).

I did notice there were two Hort courses - one of them organic.  Would love to do these at some stage as I live on a lifestyle block.

So as for SIT themselves, I had a good experience there.  You can ask the tutor questions online, and also share information/questions with other course members.
