Hi there. taine's first top tooth came in, but not his middle ones, but the one on the far right...where an eye tooth would be. I thought he would need braces or something, but after the others grew in, it kinda shifted and now looks fine.
does she have any other teeth?

lizzle - she has bumps where the eye teeth should be and maybe her bottom ones are there i can see them under the gum but at the front not at the top of the gum if that makes sense? Its hard to see coz she thinks its funny and sticks her tounge out i only saw the other bumps when she was crying and felt them before.

They can have the bumps for the teeth for a long time before the actual tooth comes through - sorry Jess, lots of dribble and bonjela will be needed. Normally the middle teeth come first then the next ones out. But then some babies like to be different and have the outer teeth come first. I know dental nurses won't see a baby but maybe next time you are at plunket or your dr get them to have a quick look if they are coming through . Also have a look in the Thriving under 5 book that should have some info on teething in it.

the eye teeth tend to come up and down for a while before they cut as do the molars (more so). But you never know, children do cross cut teeth, and although not considered "normal" it happens alot. Also re enroling at the dental clinic we enrol from birth in northland so your area may be the same. I know some clinics say not until 1 but then they are more than happy to see a baby.

yep your local dental clinic. If you phone your closest school they will give you the dental clinics phone number.
And yep re the brushing. Although it may be easier with just a peice of gause cloth over the end of your finger and rubbing it on the tooth. Or you can get a little brush that fits on your finger.

I was also told the long the teeth take to come through the straighter the teeth are. Yeah Jess a nice very soft brush is best.

Olivia has 2 teeth Jess and they recommended that she have them wiped with a soft cloth till she was a year old then try with toothpaste then when she can understand even more, use a toothbrush. I have Olivia enrolled into a local dental clinic now as directed to by my Dr, she probably wont be seen till she is a year old.

Is it normal for their cheeks to go even redder after feeding? Does the sucking aggrivate the gums or something?

Hell yes!
Try some bonjela on her gumns before a bottle and it will get her feeding better (if she is feeding badly - gumming the bottle - that is). I know it says on the pack that it is only for babies 4 months and older but I checked with my Dr and he said it was Ok, just their precaution is all.
