HI all,

Just wondering...

I was told I cant try for another baby for two years since I had a C section with Jaxon. We dont want to wait that long. Im 30 and Glenn is 34 and we want to have all our kids by the time I am 35. We want to try for a girl and if we get a boy second time we will try once more for a girl.

I dont know much on c sections but i assume they say 2 years coz of the extent of the surgery its major!!

Also i dont know if its relevant to the c section but it takes 2 years for your body to return to "normal" after having a baby...

hi there i had a c-secion with james and they told me not to have anymore for at least a year was there any injurys or tears with your c-section or maybe you should talk with your doc or midwife as they may be able to tell you why you have to wait two years i do no off people who havent waited the after the surgery and she was in horrable pain in the scar but that don,st mean it would happen to you

Hi Kell

My mum had a c section when she had my brother in July and the following May, she had another c section with my sister I don't remember her having any major dramas with it.

Two of my close friends both had C sections early this year. One was told to wait the two years (hers was very complicated) and the other wasn't (just a straight forward C section - if there is such a thing!!).

I guess your doctor will have the best answer.

Kell, Fiona had c-sections with all her kids expect Daniel. So she had 5 c-sections and the older kids are quite close in age.

I wasn't told to wait either. Maybe you had some complications of some sort?

Hmmmmm sounds like I'll also be checking that out with my LMC...we were planning on waiting at least a year now anyway plus I did wonder with me coming close to rupturing that would have any effect on when to try for number two.

It does depend on how your surgery and healing process went. I had an ECS and was told to wait a year as that is how long it takes for all the major muscles to heal up, getting pregnent before then could cause the wound to "hiss". The sooner you get pregnant after CS the more likely it will be that you have another CS earlier in your pregnancy to ensure that your uterus stays intact. This was all the guff I got from my midwife, although I assured her at the time that I wouldn't be having kids for a LONG time I have since changed my mind as well and will be looking forward to conceiving another baby in about a year or 2!
If you give your maternity ward that you gave birth in a ring they should have the pamphlets that your LMC should (should) have also supplied to you.

I didn't get any pamphlets on life after a CS!!! grrr

Anyways - My MW said to wait at least a year before trying so that your body can recover and heal properly. I healed up pretty quickly and didn't have any probs after the op. Most people I know that had a CS were "advised" to wait at least 1 year.

I haven't had a baby yet but just wanted to include my friends details. She had a c-section with her first baby and fell pregnant (albeit accidently) 9 months later with her second. She had a successful VBAC delivery 18months to the day after her first baby was delivered by c-section. She never mentioned that she was told to wait and she never mentioned any issues she had during pregnancy with her second in relation to her c-section first time.

Found it! (once I thought to look in history )

It's Australian and I think it's also aimed at women who want VBAC's but seems to have some good info from what I've read.

Poppit that's almost my story! I wasn't given any advice to wait before TTC, I got preg 10 months later and successful VBAC 19 months to the day lol

Unless you had any major complications, I would maybe suggest getting a second opinion?
