We are about to move DS into a big boy bed and have no idea about pillows.
Should I give him one or not? And if so what sort is best??
Any thoughts??

We gave DS a toddler pillow in his cot at around 16-17 months which he loved so when we moved him into a big bed we gave him a normal size pillow (quite a flat one) and again he loves it and literally sleeps on top of it every night
Perhaps start him off with a toddler pillow (I bought ours from Kmart for around $10) or just go with a normal size flat pillow, we got DS's from Briscos

All my kids just used a normal pillow, flattish when they went in to beds, I never used any kind in cots.

DS is two and doesn't have a pillow, I won't give him one until he asks for it

Yeah, mine is 2.5 and he doesn't have a pillow. He barely uses all of his bed (we always find him across top of the bed up against the headboard), why waste a pillow on him as well? Hahaha.

My two year old doesn't have a pillow. She hasn't asked for one yet so I haven't bothered. I can't remember when I gave my oldest a pillow so I guess I'll just wait and see when she wants one!
MrsEmma I didn't realise there were toddler pillows. Will have to check them out. Are they just flatter versions of an adult one?

blessedmama the toddler pillows are shorter than a standard size pillow and yes it is quite flat too
The reason we gave him one was because we have cushions in the lounge and he would put them on the floor and lie on them all the time and started carrying them into his room for nap times so thought it safer to buy him his own flat pillow.

Haha - that's cute! My wee one shows absolutely no interest yet so it will be interesting to see how long it takes her.

Yeah it was gorgeous - I would never have thought to give him one otherwise!

Our 19mth old has had a pillow for a few months and, like MrsEmma's DS, he sleeps on top of it most of the time - he absolutely loves it! We gave him a full sized flat pillow.
When he would sleep in our bed, he always wiggled his way on to either mine or DH's pillowa and slept really well, so after a few particularly difficult nights DH put a pillow in his cot and he's slept really well since (mostly ).

we gave our daughter a pillow when she was about 15months,just to see if it would keep her in one place - she used to wake up a bit sore from sleeping in weird positions. It worked really well, just gave her a normal but flattish pillow.

We gave ours a pillow at about 2, when he started lying all over the cushions and dragging them round the house. We got cheap ones from the warehouse which are really flat.
Mainly he cuddles it or sleeps completely on top of it. He doesn't really use it like a pillow for just his head.
