I currently have a phil and teds dash with the doubles kit, but I must bluntly say I think it is a piece of junk. For the money we paid, the quality is below average. Also I have seen my friend with her newborn, and the doubles kit seems very awkward and also dangerous! (if there is no toddler in the front it just tips backwards). And of course when bubs gets older it is the fight as to who sits up front. I would LIKE to get rid of it. Just have to convince hubby 
So I am browsing other options and wondered about the mountain buggy duet stroller, with four wheels. It says it is the width of a single mountain buggy. Has anyone got one of these and what are your thoughts? Also my toddler will be 2 1/2 when bubs is born - how much longer will he need to sit in a stroller? Any advice great appreciated :-) |

DS is 2 and half now, and we've just had number two. I find most the time he doesn't want to be in the stroller.
If we are out and about and its close to bed time he might moan about not wanting to walk, but I can usually convince (bribe) him to walk a little bit more. -------------

Yeah u will be using the buggy less and less for the older child- and If he goes to kindy when hes 3 then even less time out and about with u and needing the buggy unless u want to do lots of long walks.Ive seen lots of people regret buying a side-by-side double buggy for this reason- they are then pushing the double buggy with just one kid most of the time!
In the phil & teds the newborn would still lie flat in the proper buggy part- not the doubles kit, and the toddler would be in the doubles kit at the top of the buggy. Once the baby is old enough to be sitting up then they go in the doubles kit under the main buggy part- but if only one child is in the buggy they should always be in the main part, not the doubles kit. |

We have an explorer and I love it, as Kellz says - when DS walks, DD is in the front/main seat not the doubles/back seat.
MB have the +1 which I was seriously considering getting, but someone I know borrowed one off a friend for the weekend neither of her kids wanted the back seat and she found it really big and bulky. I have heard good things about the Duet but I'm not keen on a side by side as even now DS isnt that keen on the pram so one side would be empty most of the time. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I think it depends on your older child, my 3.7 yo son always wants to go in the pram, but friends with same age kid, their eldest has refused to go in for about a year.
I used a front pack with toddler in pram for a while and then bought a side by side double MB. I agreed with others though that with newborn lying flat the toddler has a good spot above them, and will be able to stay in there till 3 months. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| My DD was almost 3 when we had DS, we have the phil & ted sport & found the double kit great, we live on a steep hill so DD couldn't handle the walk up so often had both of them in the buggy. Don't know much about the dash but we used a cocoon when DS was newborn & was much easier to slide him underneath with it. |

I have a p&t explorer, its a piece of crap, nearly tipped over so many times with both of the kids in it, and only had it 4 months and have already had to replace the frame and all the wheels.
If I could afford another pram, i would get the MB duet - its a side-by-side that is the same width as a single (in fact its exactly the same width as my beloved valco) although it looks wider. So you can do all the same things and go to the same places as an inline :-) And it also means if kids are sleeping, you can recline them independantly. You can do so many cool things like have a capsule and a toddler at the same time etc. Or another option would be the MB plus one, if you want an inline. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I love that you can have so many different combinations - I didn't like the P&T doubles because one child always seem to get a raw deal staring at the back of the front seat. With the City Select you can have them facing each other or back to back, as well as both facing forward, and it's really easy to manouevre etc. Plus I can put the capsule on it as well which is really handy. |

I had 20 months between my first two and found the P&T E3v2 (a 6year old model now)fantastic. The baby can fit in coccoon on the lay flat part till 6m for sleeping. The toddler up front. then switch so toddler at front and baby at back once 6m. then it got to a point where the younger one went in the front cos the toddler would want to ride sometimes and sometimes not so then she would climb in & out herself of the back seat. I never had any problems with it tipping etc
Have juts had 3rd baby & cocoon/pram all lovely going strong, no faults use it nearly every day. (have wheels/capsule for in car) but do lots of walking from home with P&T DD2 was 4 in jan and sometimes she rides home sitting on the foot part from kindy if she gets too tired, I havent actually bothered with her in the seat as she is 18kg. I find having the fixed wheel on best for walking on footpath and the flexiy wheel for shopping |

what about something like this they have adaptors for P&T if you dont want to buy a whole new pram,

I have a Phil and Teds Dash and have had no trouble with it,when my daughter was a newborn ,she lay flat and her brother sat in the toddler seat above her,when she was bigger she sat in the bottom and he sat on top,before getting one,I always thought they didn't get much view,but she can see plenty out of both sides down the bottom
Now a lot of the time my son will walk but we keep the attachment part on in case he decides to sit,I like that when he no longer needs it,it can just be a single pushchair again Its all personal choice though and what works best for you...I know Mountain buggy has brought out a new double buggy...but I think they cost an arm and a leg -------------
