one of my kids went through a not wanting to brush teeth stage. I got them to pick a new tooth brush & used an egg timer & it worked well. Now I use the tooth fairy by saying she does not come to kids that don't clean their teeth..but your little one is a bit young for that...good luck

the colgate one in a box with looney tunes characters on it isnt mint flavour and its sparkly too, if you cant find it try a chemist or even a dentist and if you still cant find it message me and i will get you some from my work, also you can use any adult tooth paste on kiddies as long as you dont use to much and they are not eating it ;) lots of chemists usually have a bigger selection
Please dont brush with water and use flouride tablets, it isnt the same and i have sen 5yr olds have ALL their teeth out under general anasthetic from parents doing this, flouride tablets work from the inside-out, and flouride toothpaste works from the outside if you get what i mean.

flouride tablets work by ingesting like panadol does.
toothpaste with flouride in works by absorbtion method like moisturizer does.
so by brushing with flouride tablets it doesnt work and can damage the teeth meaning they could all need to be removed if bad bad damage is done...unless i interpreted wrong

I think she meant just to brush the kids teeth with water and give them the flouride tablets to take to ensure they are getting the flouride.

emptyvessel - that is what i ment,
flouride tablets work by being absorbed through the body like panadol & vitamins, they help form strong teeth but they dont stop them from rotting
flouride in toothpaste works to strengthen the enamel on the outside of the teeth and also in between teeth, which is really important.
brushing with water and no tooth paste pretty much doesnt do alot, imagine it as if you had oil on your hands and washed them with cold water, its not going to do alot, during the day when your eating sugars and acid stick to the outside of your teeth and start to eat away at it which is why brushing with tooth paste is super important,
if you dont want to use a fluride toothpaste, as some perfer the red seal one as someone mentioned above thats fine, also if you were worried about flouride there is a product you can get from dentists called tooth mousse it comes in lots of flavours - strawberry, vanilla, tutifruiti, mellon & mint and it is a fluride based cream which you rub a small amount on your teeth at night after brushing and leave it on over night, its really good
sory for the novel

I asked www.toothpaste.co.nz about a toothpaste for my son - Non Mint, adult toothpaste - for the floride.
She sent me this recommendation
http://www.toothshop.co.nz/afawcs0149423/CATID=8/ID=458/SID=608044174/productdetails.html
I am going to give it a go so will let you know how he got on with it - it has more floride than colgate total.
