So it seem's Mikey has started getting Exchema(*sp?) I am so peeved we have been battling this with Alan scicne he went on the bottle and now mikey. I am feeling really crappy about putting him on f/f now wish I had just kept b/f . I had no trouble feeding just did not like it found it very hard to bond with baby while feeding now it feel's like I made a selfish choice to give up feeding so soon. Now we will have to look at soy fourmula like we did Alan it cost so much more then normal.
Help waht do you guy's do for exchema need to combat it till we start with the soy.

My Doc prescribed (so I got it free yay) a 500g pot of Emulsifying Ointment BP, for Briona. We would smooth it on her right after her bath (when her skin is soft) and it did help quite a lot.

awe deb! like robyn said, it might of happened anyway. dont feel bad about switching to bottle, you made a great choice, remmeber happy mummy/baby but i know nothing i or anyone can say can take away those feelings of guilt. but speaking from someone who's been there too, just know that you did what was right.
jade (my oldest) has it too, and emma (my "middle") but not as bad.... so chances are kayla may get it aswell. i have very sensitive skin myself and have a bit of excema at the mo. take care

I'm using flaxseed oil for Han's eczema. Not sure if does anything! Mum bought it for me to try... will let you know if she gets worse when we run out
Have you checked out the disability allowance from WINZ? I've heard others talk about getting it for eczema related purposes, to cover the cost of more expensive forumla and lotions and potions etc. Mention it to your doctor when you go it. An extra $35 a week (or whatever it is) helps a whole lot!

hey thanks for that Nikkie I never thought of that we did apply for something from the ministry of health, but it turned out to be the same price as buying it at supermarket will ask on friday when we go.

Yes Debbie I should have said that Briona was a b/f baby and still got it, actually it seems to run in the family as a lot of my family got it as preschoolers. I still get a heat rash from time to time but most of my siblings don't have any trouble with excema any more.

My son has eczema (the dry kind) which makes his skin dry and flaky. I went to the doctor and she gave me Hydrocortisone 1% Oi Ointment to apply sparingly twice a day and Lemnis Cream Fatty to apply hourly or at every nappy change.
Lycan's nana has also given me some Alpha Keri Oil to use in his bath. She used to use it on JK and CK when they were younger, she said it's every good. You can get Alpha Keri Oil from the chemist.
I have only started using it this week along with what the doctor has given me and already i can see his skin clearing.
LK is a fully BF baby so he's probably reacting to something im eating, i have a feeling it may be dairy, so i have cut out cheese and chocolate but i won't give up milk in my hot drinks.
