Hi there, HELP! I'm new, so I hope I'm writing this in the right place.
We've been ttc for years. I'm 37.5, so we feel there is not much time left.
So we've been to the hospital for our first appointment and the Dr was so horrible. We thought we'd look at who else out there could help us.
Can anyone help by telling me who does IVF in Palmerston North? Or maybe you've had experience with this Dr?
Thanks...

Thanks Monkeys.
There is one Dr at Palmerston North Fertility Associates and he was who we saw at the hospital. So hoping there is another option or that he was just having a really bad day when we saw him.

Hi Lullubelles
I am in Palmerston North and going through FA with Dr Ngan-Kee...he can be a bit 'odd' but I find him to be very good...
I think FA are the only ones in Palmerston North...and I think you will find that they actually do most of their treatments in Welly...that is what we've been told (looking at starting in Oct)...
Are you on the private or public list?

Hi Sag
We saw Dr Ngan-Kee at the hospital when we thought we'd see what our options are on public. After that we thought we may go private and see someone else. But there doesn't seem to be anyone else in PNth.
If FA do most of the treatments in Welly do you think we could choose a Welly Dr?

Hi Lullubelles
Yes I think PN only has one FA. Unfort we don't qualify for public so pay privately to see the same person...
I don't see why you cannot go through wellington directly...there is of course higher costs assoicated with getting to wellington etc...but you need to be 100% comfortable with your specialist...I'd call up wellington FA and ask them.
From what Dr NK was saying I think PN gets their actual treatments done in Welly - not 100% though...
Good luck for your journey - may it be a short one!

PM Oscarboo she's been through IVF in Pnth.
From what I understand from when we were doing the initial IVF bloods for #2 is that the Wtgn based FA has clinics up here. That is what I had my appointment for. So there isn't a PN IVF place as such.

We went straight through Wellington as there was a too bigger wait to see the Dr in Palmerston North even if paying privately. We saw John Hutton in Wellington and would recommend him. He was great. And yeah, you have to go to Wellington for parts of the treatment anyway and that way you get to know them in Wellington anyway.

Thanks, I feel a bit better now. I'm doing bloods at the moment and OH has one more test. So I think we'll try and contact someone next week because it's looking like we won't qualify for public and don't want to wait too long.
So, how often do you need to go to Welly? And can you just choose your Dr?

We just took appointment with first available dr! We went down for the inital consult and then didn't go again until just before our cycle began. Towards the end we had to go down a few days in quick succession but that was because of when ANZAC day and the weekend fell. We decided the trips were worth it.

Accoring to Dr NK there isn't a wait (which differs from everything I've been told on and off the forum)...have to wait until Oct anyway (6 months post lap/dye)...lile you Lullubelles I don't really want to wait anymore! FX it happens naturally before then...
Good luck and let us know where you end up!

Hi there
I'm in Palmy and am going through IVF with Fertility Associates in Wellington. We had a couple of appts in Wgtn before we started everything - an initial consult with Dr Andrew Murray who was great and then with the nurse to learn how to administer the drugs.
I've just started stimulation injections and can do the blood tests and scans here. We will need to go to Wgtn for collection and then again a few days after for transfer.
As we are funding treatment ourselves, we were able to start straight away.
I can def recommend Dr Murray in Wgtn. And the staff there were really helpful :)

Thanks so much for your replies. It's comforting to know that there we are not necessarily stuck with one Dr.
We'll just wait out the testing over the next 6 weeks and make a decision during that time.
I'm sure I'll get more familiar with OhBaby as we go through this.
Thanks again. X

Hi, I've been with Dr Ngan Kee for 4years on and off. Had looong treatments of clomid to help ovulate and both times he said IVF was my next step and we started proceedings I got my BFP. Yes his personality is a lot to be desired but he does get results. I have a lovely DD who is nearly 2 and Ive just got my BFP with second baby- I truely believe without him I wouldnt have them
He said tio me that all the scans etc and tests can be done in his office but the actual treatments need to be done in Wellington.
I wish you all the very best!

Congrats on the BFP MelW!
I've only every heard good things about Dr NK...but yes his personality is a bit 'unusual' ...luckily a friend had warned me about him not being a 'cuddly' type...but to be honest i prefer it that way...
All the best for your pregnancy (and may i be joining you soon!)
