hey I know that its going to be the first of many but tonight brooke was having a real good little walking session on her own and then lost balance and hit her head real hard on wooden part of couch.has a wee bit of sharp line along the wood.she cried so much and I just knew it hurt real bad.left a blue bruise straight away.I felt so bad and Im such a worry wart that I worry that it could do damage?(or delayed concusion?)how would ya ever know???I figurd she musta been ok soon after because she started playing with toys like nothing had happened.poor little thing......anyone else ever worry like this?

I do worry occasionally but I think you would be able to tell if something was really wrong. I would worry if they had a big cut that was bleeding, if they werent crying or were acting a bit funny afterwards (walking worse, clumsier, not feeding...) I really have no idea though sorry Rox! How was your holiday?

Abby has had two decent sized cuts to her head and this is what we have been told by the doctors.
As long as they are alert and weren't knocked unconcous, they are normally fine. They are aloud pamol and sleep is good. We were just told to keep and eye on her and check her pupils dilated with a tourch.
She sounds like a bit of a tough nut!! More worry for mum's I reckon. Hopethis helps.

Ella fell onto the concrete from a bench outside a while ago, onto her head.. it was about a half metre drop. I worried all day, then all night, but she was fine.. as the others said if they aren't themselves then you need to worry, otherwise they are fine

I think you shouldn't worry too much unless they're vomiting afterwards. Scary though..

Now that Zaara is getting up on furniture and trying to walk around them...and from time to time letting go and trying to stand....she had a few woops and fell and hit her head. Never too hard tho.....
But I agree with Aimee...if she acts funny, throws up or does not feed then yah ...worry!!

If they are knocked unconscious, and wake up, I'm sure you are supposed to stop them from sleeping....right? trying to remember from first aid at girl guides.

if they are ever knocked unconscious you should take them to the docs, even if they appear fine once they wake up and even if it was just for a second...
When Ayja had her donks, the paediatrician told me that mostly kids are fine unless they fall from over 5 feet, or if they hit something blunt on the way down, considering brooke hit something, still keep an eye on what Aimee said, but chances are she'll be all good.
