Hi ladies! We are looking at starting to go camping as a family and am wondering what we need? We have a tent of course so big expense out of the way but have no idea what else we need with taking the kids. We have two boys, 4 and 7 months :)
Thanks for any and all help!

Hi there
We took our son camping at 3 months old, he loved it, now we will take our daughter she will be 6 months. We had the basics first time up.
The basics
Tent
Beds
Chilly Bin
BBQ or Camp stove
Kitchen things, plates, mugs, pots
Thermos
We went to Kathmandu and they have amazing camp kitchens etc now we are pros and even have a camp fridge. Kathmandu have awesome camping things, every year we buy one new thing that we need.
Hope you have, its exciting to go on holiday.

We love camping but only took the boys for the first time last year. We kept it really easy and just went for a few days and had pre-prepared meals and takeaways etc. Looking forward to doing a bit more this year but will again probably keep it to weekends.
I recommend the kids Readybeds - inflatable mattress with sleeping bag attached so they don't get all caught up in it, and also saves room in the tent.
Otherwise just your usual camping stuff and lots of snacks.

We also had a pop up cot for my eldest son when he was little and he fitted in it till he was about 18months old. It folded down to the size of a large frisbee - maybe 35 -40 cm wide and an inch thick, and was only $40. Not sure if they are available here, but there are much more expensive pop up cots second hand on trademe.
