Okay, may be this is pretty random. Have just discovered we have a huge fruitful loquat tree (as in just discovered what the fruit is, not just found the tree). anyway, have noidea what to do with them . I've googled it, but some of the recipes seem a little weird. can anyone recommend what i can do with loquats~!!!!!

BTW - in gisorne everyone has citruis trees and to be it is a travesty to see all the fruit lying on the ground - hence me wanting to do SOMETHING with my loquats

it's ornage, kinda plum shaped with three biggish pips in the middle. tastes quite nice actually, but as I said, tree laden with them - and I did have to google to find out what it was.

i use to eat them like they were going out of fashion! when i was young and they were delicious!!! but yip never heard of them being made into anything??

okay just spoke to mum this morning and she said yes im not imagining it. She used to make jelly ( yummy jam spread) sooo ill try and google you a recepie.

Can you make fruit pies with them...just peel, pip, boil and mash them like apples, put in a short sweet pastry and bake????? Or not....

I don't even know what they are just wanted to join in LOL....

yeah, pies or jam are good Liz. I love them!! My cousin has a tree laden with them too. They are delish all by themselves too. Think they are a relative of guavas....??

ohhh loquats!! i love them! i know u can make jelly with them but i reckon they're so much better eaten fresh. i used to go climbing the neighbours tree scavanging thier loquats when i was little

to me, kinda like a citrusy apricot. the jam tastes of a mix of apricots and apples. they are a yellow-orange colour, apricot size, with pips in the middle - large ones - between one and four. i'll have to take a pic
