what do you guys all reckon????Brooke is 1 in 2wks time.should I keep her on formula or change to just normal cows milk????????changed Caleb at 12mths and he was always picking up bugs etc so was wondering if formula would just keep giving her something a bit extra to help with imunity..... ------------- Caleb 15/11/02 Brooke 14/11/05 |

I found it easier to mix cows milk with formula for the first few weeks as it is a different taste and takes some getting used to. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

| I just switched and Jake was fine. we switched on hims birthday. Not sure what I'll do with Taine as jake could eat ANYTHING but Taine has a more sensitive stomach,. |

| I wonder if its better to keep them on formula...the 12 month plus. Sure it is cheaper because we seem to be going through so much milk and its not cheap. I think formula would work out cheaper in the long run. Alex is one in a month and I'm also weighing up what to do (that and I still have 5 tins of his currant formula to go through - stocked up at the baby show) |

One of the GPs told me that there is no need for toddler formula after one year - the only reason they make toddler milk is because they cant advertise the baby formulas... If Hannah wasn't allergic to dairy I would have her on it now, am trying to get her to drink rice or soy milk at the mo but she's not into it! I didn't do formula (just b/f to cup) but at 1yr I would start making a change to cow's milk AND change some of the milk feeds for just water. Of course, you're gonna have to pick when is best to do that, but it's my 2 cents  -------------  |

we never switched to toddler stuff.. we tried it with Paris but it gave her a sore tummy, so we stuck with her other formula till she went to a cup, which we transitioned her with warm milos after brekkie and before bed while she had a story (at night anyway) and during the day she had water or milos if she was at home, so the milo disguised the taste of the new cows milk.. and after that was just cows milk all the way - so she was nearly 2 before then and was used to it.
Ayja is the same, she has so few bottles anyway and only takes about 70 to 100 mls from them, 3 times a day, that formula is just as cheap.. just the stuff for 6 months upwards that she is already on. and we'll probably do the same, when she's about 20 months we'll let her go and pick out her own big girls straw cup.. and we'll do the same.. have tried her with normal milk but she won't take it.. even flavoured milk gets spat out.. weird child! ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

If you are buying supermarket milk, I think I worked out one day that it isn't much more expensive (or cheaper) to actually use formula.
But I assume from Aimee's comment that you are a dairy chick, so that whole cost efficiency thing goes out the window! |

ha ha yep we dairy farmers....but we buy milk.weird eh!!!!we dont like the taste of it straight out of vat.very creamy.......waste our $ really I spose.but think maybe the vat milk might be more fattening???god Im useless...poor hubby Im a real townie.yeah few people have mentioned that its not much cheaper to go of formula.might have chat with dr when take Brooke tomorrow(going to get her spots checked) ------------- Caleb 15/11/02 Brooke 14/11/05 |
