Hi all, am very new in here but I wanted to hear what all the other mums to be are doing in regards to their riding..

I haven't ridden a lot during winter due to my job except for weekend hacking or schooling. Am really keen to get into this coming season's shows and dressage comps though as I missed a lot of last season due to saddle fitting issues and my wedding in March.

Hubby has no problem with me riding (yet) but we are only about 5 weeks along, today I went out and mustered some of hubby's sheep from a friends property back to his place, it was great!

Hi,
I worked with race horses when I was pregnant with my first and I kept riding track work until I was 6 months pregnant. The only reason I stopped was because I was getting too uncomfortable. I know others that have kept riding through their whole pregnancy.
You just have to do what feels right for you. It doesn't hurt the baby but there is always a risk of falling off.

Wow that's good to know. I think I'll take it as it comes just hope I don't get pressure from others to give it up

As we have been through IVF and its taken so long to get UTD, I'm not riding in the first trimester. Horses have pretty much had winter off anyway and one with a tendon injury, so she hasn't been riden in a while anyway. But hoping to bring them back into work in the 2nd trimester and for now just do a bit of lunging!!

I rode right through my 1st 2 pregnancies right up til they were born. I had to use a mounting block to get on and off from 26wks with my 2nd as i went to get off as usual and fell on my butt (just as well it was a sand round pen) my horse was a real gentleman so i never worried about him. I was jumping at 5mths pregnant. Only thing i did was wear a jumping vest when ever i rode. I did fall off while 8wks with my 1st but didnt bother baby at all, gave me a fright though.
