We are thinking of re-locating to Palmerston North temporarily for 3-4 years while I finally get myself tertiary educated.

What areas are good/not so good? Schools, high schools, afterschool care, kindy's, family friendly, quiet, etc?

We last lived there 10 years ago when my husband was in the army, and our only family member down there is childless so not much help.

DH's work will be in the Kelvin Grove area (he'd just be transferring within his current company) but that's not a major as he currently travels 40mins each way.
Thanks in advance, .

If he's working up Kelvin Grove end of town, all that area is pretty much good. Can you look on street view if you find a place to rent? That'll give you a really good judge of the area. Anywhere is pretty much 15mins in the busy time of the morning. I worked in KG & live on the other side of the city.

You have a primary kid? I think Roslyn is ok? There is Parklands which used to be good, don't really hear. Whakarongo school is good. All the areas around those school are nice. There is Cornerstone christian primary up that way too.

Daycares/homebased care, ooooddddles in PN, they're popping up all over the place.

Oh and it's still probably pretty much the same as 10 years ago lol

Thanks for the replies, yes I have an 11y, 8y, 7y, 4y and 2y, so if we do move we'll be looking at high school, intermediate, primary, and kindy.

Hmmm I'd be moving to some where around college street area (Victoria end), there is primary schools & kindy's & daycare all close together, central to most of the high schools. Also on the bus route for Massey.
