My DS is 2 years 10 months and has shown interest in toilet training..however it feels like I'm going all over the place...

One minute he is keen to go on the toilet, but not wear undies. Next minute, he is keen to wear undies but not use the toilet. I'm confused at what to do, especially since he is in daycare full time so spending quality time with him on this isn't possible. Any suggestions?   Should I encourage him to use the toilet FIRST and not use undies, and get that side of things rolling? I obviously want to keep the momentum going, but at the same time don't want to pressure him

My other thought was spending the whole weekend at home to concentrate on it, and then hopefully at daycare it will be a little bit easier. I just don't want to go backwards, forwards, backwards again, then confuse the poor lad!

Any thoughts would be awesome!

Have a chat with the daycare staff, they will be used to helping toilet train children, plus they know your son so will be able to help you find what works for him.

Thanks ladies! I've continued to encourage him, as has daycare and he is progressing really well. I spoke to his daycare and we agreed that encouragement was the best option which we both would do, that way he wasn't getting confused between home and there.

He has progressed from wearing only undies (except for sleep time) and have lots of accidents, to NO accidents but holding on! And in just this last week he has asked several times to go to the toilet, and actually goes. So I am confident this will be a seamless transition and we will get there eventually :-) So I'm pleased that he is going at his own pace, he is enjoying the process (hopefully!) and everyone is going with the flow!

Yay!
