Hey all, I have had a read of some other topics put up here about transverse lying babies - but these are a few years old now and not a lot of outcomes there, more the trip along the way. I am now just over 33 weeks, and this little man has been transverse for at least a couple of months now. Hardly ever feel any movement above my belly button, all below and kicking to the side is getting ouch now, and weird with the head just above my hip. Very uncomfortable, pelvis is hurting, and now my back is packing it in too. Off to an osteopath tomorrow to see if that helps with the back at least. Just really wanting to see what other people have experienced with a transverse baby, I am thinking I would like to avoid an ECV but this far along how many have actually had a baby turn on their own? Or if not what has happened in regards to booking in for a CS? I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance either way right now haha :) |

One of the ladies in our month had a transverse baby, unfortunately he didn't turn, even though they tried ECV, he had a short umbilical cord I think in the end which didn't allow him to turn. | Thanks for the reply :) Yes have been doing some of the things suggested in the spinning babies website for a couple of weeks now, but no luck. He seems quite happy there! |

Thanks for sharing, so now I don't feel that alone with the pain. So I am currently 26 weeks caring twin boys one is head down and the other is transverse, which makes it very uncomfortable, so I know your pain... At times I think that they are competing on who can do the most kicking; I just recently brought some belly bands to see if that would help relieve some of the pressure off of my pelvic bone. My doctor told me not to worry about their position because they still have to change positions. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well for you and your little Blessing decides to get in position for the big day... Good Luck to you |

Thanks for your post :) The osteopath was wonderful, relieved some of the pain in my back, although its creeping back now. Had a midwife appointment at 34 weeks and she confirmed well and truly (although I already knew) that he is very comfortable in a transverse position. I have been advised that at 36 weeks if there is no change they will refer me to the hospital for a scan to see if there is a reason behind it, and will attempt an ECV if they can. And if that isn't successful than a C Section for me! Would like to know right now, but will just have to wait and see. All the best for your twins too! This is terribly uncomfortable just having one transverse, but having one transverse with another in there too - I feel for you!!! |

My son was transverse until 35 weeks, we found out he'd moved at the scan to decide if we needed an ECV. Managed a vaginal birth after all! -------------    Jan '13

| Thats great :) I am 35 weeks now, he is still definitely sideways and the referral to the hospital has been done. So just waiting to find out when to go for the scan. Fingers crossed! |
