Hi guys,

I thought it would be nice to start a new thread for those of us that have been TTC for over a year-there are lots of us in here that have lots in common but we in different threads- such as TWW, charting girls, clomid pill poppers, IUI, TTC number 1 under 30 etc. There are amazingly strong women who have been TTC for some time in here, they may have a few war wounds from their TTC journey but are not giving up. It would be great to share our strength when we have it and help each other when we need it in here while still also sticking to our regular threads-anyone keen??

Ah pitterpatter, it takes me a while to get used to the new names sorry! But great idea!

I've been TTC #1 for over 18 months now, had one miscarriage earlier this year and that's it. On the waiting list for IVF in December but hoping for a sticky BFP before then!

Hi guys, choice there is other long timers keen for this thread.
Epic yeah very confusing changing my name after all this time-not even sure i like my new name that much! Feel free to shorten to whatever as it is a bit long. That is so choice you have IVF booked for Dec but heres hoping you get your BFP way b4 then, fx for this cycleCool
Babycrazy really hoping this iui round is the one Smile
Greenery really hoping it happends soon for you now you have your health problems sorted. Did it take you long with number 1? Our number one was a suprise so it is a bit of a suprise that number 2 has taken so long. We lost one in Nov last year at 10 weeks which was gutting, have recently had our first FA app and DP checks out ok and my ov is fine so she thinks it is a problems further along. Lap surgery in 6 months (hopefully before Christmas) to check for endo and any blockages, but like you Epic hope it happens before then.

#1 was pretty instant. like 2 months. so been stressful this time around.
I have had a root canal (and now the other side of my jaw is sore so need to go back to the dentist!!) and i have a kidney stone. haha
So have had a few stops and starts. Had taken it bad as alot (and i mean a crazy amount) of friends and family are pregnant. But i must say I am impressed one has had her baby and I reacted way better than I thought I would lol. I am glad i have a few good friends that are supportive!
Yes I hope our journeys arent too long!!

I'm glad a thread like this has popped up! I'm starting to consider myself an 'old-timer' with no BFPs as yet! Went searching in the infertility threads for somewhere to fit, but I'm not on clomid or doing IVF - currently waiting for a lap before any further investigation/treatment is done. Was feeling quite downhearted being in the TWW thread, etc. where the turnover of people coming and going with their BFPs is very high, and there's a lot of talk about their other children - I know it's obviously something that comes up, but it's really hard for those still waiting for their first, without other children to focus on.

Been trying for 2 yrs and 2 months, but have been on this site for nearly four years! First 2 years spent in the Waiting to TTC thread.

I think the longer you're in the game the more barriers you put up. Now when I hear that someone is pregnant I pretty much roll my eyes and think "Oh yeah of course!!" Sounds cynical I know but its a way to cope. I hit rock bottom when my younger brother had his baby so now it takes a lot to upset me.

Sometimes I look back to the time when we were ttc for 6mths and I laugh at how naive I was and what I still had to face. Find it easier to not think about how long and focus on what comes next :)

Ahhhhhh pitter patter now I know who you are lol Mumma!!! Its so hard to keep up with the name changes on here Im liking this new thread!

We have been TTC #1 for 2years... Have had 3 rounds of clomid with our first round bringing us our first BFP in March and then sadly MC.
After having the HSG/SIS scan this week I have been diagnosed with Poly cystic ovary syndrome which is not ideal but at least we know why and what plan to do next.
Which is another round of clomid (4th round) at a higher dose and using trigger injections. Im waiting on my bloods today to see if I can start today as im always so far behind on my cycles.

Babycrazy I am totally hearing ya! I feel the exact same!!!

I am so dreading this next round of iui.

Tips for recharging my mental health would be welcome lol. Really failing to see the light at the end of the tunnel :) Hope you're all feeling sunnier than I today xxx

Babycrazy gutted for you hun. Ok tip for recharching battery this is shallow but the other day I had voucher for a facial also got my eyes done. OMG the facial with head massage was sooo nice, in darkened room with music, jeeze woke myself up snoring!! But my skin feels so nice now and was heaps more relaxed. Anyways I just think give yourself a treat and the time to feel stink for a couple of days if you need to before moving on.This journey is really hard but we will get there in the end, we may be taking the long scenic road but we will get there in the end. Thanks Pitter Patter - nice to read your post upon getting up this morning.
Just have to soldier on I suppose. And if I were to look at the glass half full aspect of this part of this next cycle runs over the weekend so it won't affect work as much as it would. This one just gone I had to have an early blood test and wait for the results incase I had treatment that same day so that meant I couldn't go to work as had to have the bloods 1.5hrs away (loooong story lol). Then ended up not having treatment until the next day so it was very annoying and I guess stressful too.

My aim this time is to completely cut out on drinking and work to be healthy. I've never really been big on eating for fertility or cutting out drinking (don't drink coffee or many caffiene drinks) because I'd be a sad lady if I didn't treat myself to a vodka every now and again after 3 or so years but I've decided the time has come to sacrifice some things to see if it helps!

Here's hoping that you don't get to the IUI stage...its not as hard as IVF (not that I'd know) but its certainly taxing on life.

yip its horrid!! I always expected it to be difficult to get UTD, as i knew I had PCOS which would affect things for me, but I NEVER ever imagined until after the first MC that I would have any issues once we fell pregnant.
We have decided that the emotional and phyical toll is too much for us, so we are only giving it one more go - throwing everything at it in a last ditch effort before we come to terms with the fact we may never be parents

Hi guys,
Living far from fertility specialists must be hard BC, we have only had one FA app and had to travel 2 1/2 hours for that and it sucked. I think trying to be really healthy for this next try sounds like a really good idea, really hope it makes all the difference.
Monkeys massive hugs to you Hug I really understand that decision, think we'll only go another year, this is a hard journey. FX this last go works xx

Well congratulations Greenery!!! Its very nice to have someone get their BFP after a long time. Good luck and hope it goes well :)

Wondering if anyone has advice for me. So as we know this iui was a fail and we're on to the next cycle (if not then we do now lol). I'll start bloods Thurs week away and likely have insem the Sunday or Monday following (so predictable is my body lol). This Saturday coming my netball team are having drinks after the game. I am notorious for being part of these shenanegans...especially pre planned as this is. After ttc for so long I'm not big of denying myself the pleasures of life and have a drink here and there if I feel like it apart from when I'm in the tww after treatment, however I think that since this is my last iui before review I should try to throw everything at it including being drink free beforehand iykwim.
It will be noticed if I don't drink and questions will be asked. And part of me thinks a blow out with my netball girls might be quite good for me.
What's everyone's thoughts?

All opinions welcome lol. I think I asked this elsewhere back when I had treatment right on my 30th bday party! I can never make a decision lol.

Hello :)

New here,

I'm 23 and have been trying with my husband since our wedding 18months ago (he's 29)
I have pretty regular 29day cycles and month after month nothing has happened.

I have been diagnosed with sever ME (Known as chronic fatigue) but it's not proven to have any effects on pregnancy etc. And had a load of health problems when I was younger.
But now, I'm okay apart from ME which can get really bad (swollen joints/muscles/fatigue etc)

I eat super healthy, exercise regularly as I can and am totally stress free in our lifestyle.

My doc say's I'm totally able to conceive... so not sure why it's so hard for us!
Hubby is going to get tested too one day soon but he's not too happy about it.
Keeps saying it'll happen when the time is right and all that.

But the waiting, and getting my hopes up and the crazy disappointment is really hard.

But the amazing thing is reading so many success stories, it's really heart warming!

Much love x

Thanks babycrazy and Rach for your support! x

And Greenery, a faint line sounds exciting!! Good luck :)

My body likes to trick me into thinking I'm pregnant every now and then, like now, my AF is 6 days late, HPT yesterday - BFN but I have pretty in-your-face symptoms.

Love the waiting game... haha!

congrats Greenery, all the best for an easy nine months ahead. Maybe the secret is to join this forum and we'll all be following you soon!
Rach and Katz your ME sounds tough, good to learn about this as I don't know much about it
Katzbabz fx you do get you bfp! Such a hard time the am I aren't I time of the month. This month I convinced myself I might be which I haven't done for a while, but I had cramping off and on since 9dpo and other symptoms, but now pretty sure not as am grumpy as and have the AF will be here in the morning like clock work feeling, ahhhh! Anyways I am looking fwd to my accumpunturist getting back from hols so I can get back on that again
Babycrazy if it was me I think I would have a couple with non alcoholic in between, but you know a blow out might be good too- I really feel like that sometimes! Either way have fun- you deserve it!!
Hope you guys have a good weekend xx

I was fine (tipsy but fine) however my darling friend who hasn't drunk for 5 wks and decided to mix her own vodka and sodas ended up in a messy way so I got her hubby to come get her and cos we both live in the country near each other I just hitched a lift to my place lol. Hi ladies

I think this thread sounds like a bit of me :) I have been enjoying the support in other threads but am starting to feel a lil discouraged with all the BFP's happening everywhere (much as I am happy for everyone else!). You know how it is...

My DH and I have been TTC for over 3 years, with one early miscarriage and an unsuccessful iui. IVF lined up for the end of year (after a 2 year wait in the Public Health system).

I am a Chronic Fatigue/ Fibromyalgia 'survivor' also, so I pretty much spend my whole life attempting to find balance with energy input and output ie getting a million hours sleep a night and eating really healthy etc (most of the time...). Was diagnosed with severe endo last year after an extensive laproscopy, and the Dr said that this could finally explain a lot of my fatigue and pain symptoms. I manage a busy life with full-time job, gym and social life, so am doing pretty well most of the time.

Sometimes I feel like the only one on the planet who is struggling to conceive, so forums like this are really helpful as I can see there are many other women going through the same thing...

Posted By: reddahlia

I also take each event at a time as to whether I have a glass of wine or not - after such a long time TTC it is tempting sometimes to just throw caution to the wind and enjoy myself (unless I am undergoing a proceedure).

With ivf coming up in about four months I will prob step up my healthy living shortly I imagine. At least it will give me a feeling like I have some control over some part of the process

Red dahlia totally get how you're feeling as I'm a bit the same at the moment. My mum is a ME / chronic fatigue survivor so I think you're amazing to live such a full life.
Hope with this ivf you're nearing the end of the quest.

Hi guys,
Welcome Reddahlia. It is so good you have your IVF scheduled, it will be great to be working toward that. I am so interested in your story, I am on the waiting list for a lap surgery so would be interested in anything you can tell me about that experience. Also wondering if you had any signs of endo before the lap-did you have intense AF pain etc? The FA specialist wants to check to see if endo is a problem for me, I have period pain but it is not extreme. Also did they clear the endo out at the time of your LAP.
That is so great if you might finally have a cause for your symptoms!
Babycrazy how are you? Are you doing another iui round this month? Fx for your bloods
AFM ticking along on CD3, telling myself chin up but admit to having a few doubts the last few days, but sure i'll get over that once it gets closer to ov. My DD is 4 this month, so looking at at least a five year age gap now, I now have a time frame in mind of when she hits school to call it quits, not telling DP though as he'd hold me to it.
How is everyone else?

Hey :) I'm back, after a weekend away with no internet...

Good luck for your proceedures babycrazy and brownie. I will cross my fingers for you both! It's such a fine line we walk between not wanting to get hopes up too much but feeling hopeful/excited that you are trying something that might very well work.

Happy to discuss my endo lap etc anytime, Pitterpatter - after two years of unsuccessful TTC the specialist sent me for a laproscopy. I have always had bad period pain but it wasn't as bad over the last few years and so it wasn't expected to be very bad endo. My lap ended up being hours longer than expected and they were really thorough at clearing out extensive Stage 4 endo everywhere, except some on my bowel that would have involved a bowel surgeon and ideally my consent as it was very risky. They said I can go back for that once I have had my family if I choose. I can't believe the massive difference having this surgery has made to my energy levels and time of the month. I now have next to no pain at all with periods - just some mild discomfort occassionally on Day 1. I guess I hadn't realised just how much I was actually putting up with that wasn't 'normal'. I have been slimmer around the belly area since surgery too, which is a bonus.

It is 11 months on now though, and still not BFP so that part has been very disappointing

Best of luck for the next two weeks BC Smile

I'm just nearing the end of a cruel-ish cycle. Lots of symptoms, a decent chart (unlike last few months) and a faint line on a test yesterday morning led me to get my hopes up quite a bit!
But my temp plunged this morning, so I'm thinking it was an evap line- I've had a LOT of those before. I don't often test early or get my hopes up too high nowadays, but this time I did .. gah!

So team here's the latest advice from my nurse at FA - after treatment (iui) go for a walk or exercise and have some sex to stimulate the blood flow to the uterus. She said if it were normal circumstances you'd have a shag then carry on with life none the wiser until AF didn't come. Great philosophy I think! Off for a wee walk I go then into the car and home again.

Hi ladies! I have met of few of you over on the TTC thread.

DH and I have been TTC #1 for just shy of 4 years. We went through 2 funded IVF/ICSI cycles last/this year. Of the 4 embryos replaced I MC 3 times and got a BFN from the last one in January this year.

I had my 3rd laparoscopy for endo in Febuary and DH has such a low count he's considered infertile.

We have an appointment with FA next month after we come back from holiday to discuss our 3rd cycle, which will hopefully take place in the new year when we should have the money.
We are hoping to be doing EC-ET in Auckland with IMSI.

I guess you could say we're 'trying' naturally in the mean time as we don't use protection and haven't for almost 4 years.
I was actually convinced I was naturally PG in May as I got all my normal PG symptoms from 3DPO. But they disappeared 3 days before AF and I got BFN's. the first day of AF was so incredibly painful so it adds to my suspicions of being PG.

I think being apart of this thread will be easier for me. There are times I can't handle new women on the TTC being down that they aren't PG after 2 months then get PG the next month. On my down days seeing people there for such a short time is really heartbreaking for me.

Hi Ladies,

Ive just joined the Oh Baby! page and decided to give the forums ago.

Myself and my husband have been trying for our first baby for coming up 3 years. A month ago we had our first appointment with Fertility Associates were i found out i have trouble ovulating and have mild pcos. It was abit of a kick in the teeth but we knew something was wrong as we have had no success in such a long time. Both our health is great and my husbands "boys" are in working order, which was a big relief.

I start my first round of Clomiphene on Friday, which is abit of a surprise as we weren't expecting anything for another month as my average cycle is between 40-55days. and it has arrived on day 32.

By reading through the posts above a few of you are trying this method? It would be good to have some people to talk to who are going through it aswell.

I hope i am in the right thread! my apologise if im not, maybe someone can point me in the right direction :)

Welcome Jane. Totally in the right thread. There's also a Clomid thread down in the Coping with Infertility section of the forums, a lot of the girls in there hang out in various places so here's just as good as any.
Sorry its taking so long....finding out something is wrong totally is a kick in the teeth. Hopefully the pills are the trick you need to get a baby!

Hi Fairylight- yup sometimes it's super hard being on here with all the BFP action for newbies as horrible as that sounds. I sometimes avoid the TWW thread for this reason.

I also find it hard when those who are trying for #2 or more start talking about their other child(ren) and their pregnancy experiences casually even though it's not meant to cause hurt. I know that doesn't happen in this thread but there was a time a couple of weeks ago in another thread where it was making me feel pretty crap! Pretty irrational for me to be like that but hey

Aww thanks ladies for welcoming me. It's nice to be able to vent and talk to people in similar situations.

I totally understand Rach when it comes to seeing all these other people around you being so successful! I have had many times when it's takin me over the edge and it is sometimes hard to watch others and try and be happy for them. I've been in a wedding group with a few girls who were getting married the same time as me and nearly all of them have had kids or are being successful after 2-3months of trying. It is definitely heartbreaking when you have been trying for so long. Grrrrr I have those days too!!

Umm yeah I think it can regulate you, the way I hope it works for me is that it kick starts my ovulation into monthly and not every second month because I have such a long cycle I.e. 55 days and I only sometimes ovulate once in that time or not at all. I don't think they necessary use it just for if you have pcos I think it's just normally something that goes with not ovulating regularly so a lot of people that have pcos which one of the symptoms is not regular or no ovulation. If that makes sense?! Hehe

Brownie - yes fert assos have been fantastic with myself and my husband! They are such lovely people. I'm quite nervous to start on Friday! Eeek. Do you mind me asking if you have or get any side effects from it personally? I have heard it can make people rather ill.

Hi Jane - welcome, out story is very like your, ttc 3 yrs + and found out in May I have PCOS. I had cycles from 28 up to 53 but it took a while to diagnose. Anyway I am on my first cycle of clomid and on 13dpo and think af is going to turn up. These forums are great for good times and bad. Word of warming on day two of taking clomid I had the worst headache I have ever had and wanted to actually rip my head off - you might get some side effects - good luck and keep us posted

Hey guys,
saw in the tww thread brownie that you got your progesterone levels back- this if from the FA website-

Possible interpretation of results assuming the test is properly timed are:

1. Progesterone  > 30nmol/l – ovulation has occurred and the corpus luteum is producing sufficient progesterone to induce adequate secretory changes in the endometrium to assist implantation.
2. Progesterone 3-30 nmol/l – ovulation has occurred > 10 days ago or < 5 days ago, or if ovulation did occurr 5-10 days ago, the level is probably not adequate to sustain endometrial growth for satisfactory implantation.
3. Progesterone >120 nmol/l – two or more follicles have been recruited
4. Progesterone < 3nmol/l – no ovulation in previous 14 days.

So 34 sounds like it is good from thisSmile, fx for this monthxx
Rach yay you are doing good and good you are following up on lap, yay for the day off!

Hi Ladies I thought I would you join all here.
Some of you know me from before but for those that don't here is a quick bio about me. I'm 32 and DH is 31. We have been trying since Dec 2011 and in March fall pregnant after 2 cycles of clomid. Unfortunately Connor had too much fluid around his head, neck, and body and we sadly said goodbye to him on July 4th, 18 weeks gestation. I'm still grieving and bleeding but I am starting to chart again to see what is happening with my body. We probably won't try this cycle but will the next cycle.

AFM I had a HUGR temp drop this morning, im putting it down to one of two things! My new thermometer which is the correct one for charting & the other being im getting AF. I really do feel like shes coming :(
I phoned up FA yesterday crying saying I want to hit it hard this month, so I will be taking Femera/Letrazole & Metformin.
I said to the nurse I don't want to do this for another 5 goes like clomid! You just get to point and wonder is this ever going to happen.?

Babycrazy it's hard dealing with other people who are UTD. They try to be so understanding but it still makes you feel s@*t. I'm in the same boat as you with friends onto their second. This is such a hard journey. Have a good cry, treat yourself and be kind to yourself. I really hope this cycle is a BFP!

Morning, I know how you feel about being left behind DH notices that a lot. I have been sick - run down and likely stressed and emotional and one of the girls at work was like oh maybe your pregnant - that can give you all sorts of funny symptons. I calming said no I was not. And in my head shouting I am on clomid and have not ever had a bfp. I am waiting for a few people in work to have their second. Been through one and one of the guys wifes but no one working too close to me. My boss was telling me when they get back from a trip they are going to start as his wife want lots of kids and to be a young mum. That got me too as we started when I was 28 and now I will be 32 at least before we have a baby and we would like 3 and that maths regards to length of time taken just does not work.
Sorry I kinda went off on one there

Hugs ice cream. It sucks.

Honestly I just want to crawl into a hole right now. Usually I can tough this stuff out but clearly I've reached a point because I actually don't know how I'm going to make it through the weekend without losing it in some inconvenient place (like the middle of the netball court!)
Gah I hate being such a sad sack!!! Sometimes I don't know who else to talk to other than the ob girls. My friends are awesome but they are also trying so hard to be positive for me too that I feel bad for feeling like I do.

Anyway someone share something positive to balance my sad slackness!!! And quick!!

Ooooh hugs Blondie, Im so sorry for your loss. Xx

Well my update, I've finished my first round of clomid and have had my first blood test done on Friday now have another one tomorrow morning. (I don't no wether that is a bad thing or a good thing?! , I thought I was suppose to have a scan) how did it happen with you other ladies??

Also another thing did the other ladies who had clomid, your not supposed to do the BD until they tell you to right?? I felt a little embarrassed calling them for that for some reason haha.

Jane :)

No idea about clomid sorry Jane. Thanks for punching life in the balls lol. Feeling heaps better today. I had a meltdown twice yesterday one of which was to my fella who was ever so optimistic and let me just get what I needed to say out. Certainly helped. Bloodtest to confirm what I know (cd1 started today) then will have a chat with the nurse about what next.

Hey Jane hope your feeling ok after your first round on clomid. Hmmm just thinking about your bloods have they said you have ovulated yet? Maybe your levels are still rising and when they get to that point you will have scan? That is what happens to me!?

I'm on my second day of metformin it's going ok haven't really felt sick or anything but I guess I may when in taking three a day? I've started on 1a day for week 1, 2a day for week 2 and three a day from then on in! Also after having 5 rounds with clomid going on letrozole / femera ! Hoping for results this time!
