Hi there, has anyone heard any real life experiences about Hypnobirthing. I am interested in doing a course but wanted to hear peoples thoughts before making a decision if it is worth the investment.

Hi, I've read and seen some amazing things about hypnobirthing and it certainly does look very promising! It would be great to hear real life experiences though

Yes I used it for my second baby and will use it for this baby too. I recommend getting hold of the book & CD (usually available on Trade Me) and going from there. There's also classes in most larger cities and heaps on YouTube about it Smile

Thanks for your reply, so it must have really worked?! I'm expecting my first, it's really early days yet but I prefer the idea of hypnobirthing over a hospital medicated birth... I'd love more info!

I purchased a program online called hypnobabies. I found it was really good prior to labour at keeping me calm and positive. It was also useful in the early stages of labour but then started to panic and it lost a little of its usefulness. It was also a useful tool when i ended up needing an emergency c-section. I'm looking forward to using it again this pregnancy.

Yes it certainly did work well and the labour was a hundred percent better than my first daughters. A lot quicker too although how much hypnobirthing had to do with that aspect I don't know lol LOL I think the trick to having it work is to believe it will work; start listening to the CDs early-ish, maybe the 3rd trimester and listen to them religiously. Although I didn't do the classes (too expensive)I did make sure I watched lots of peaceful births on YouTube and had supportive friends around me during pregnancy who'd had calm home births.

I should add- the actual birth didn't go well as my daughter had shoulder dystocia and got pretty stuck. The hypnobirthing went out the window at that point. However I can absolutely say that had her birth been straightforward then it really would have been amazing....and although not completely pain free, pretty damn close Smile

Hi , It is a bit late for this person but I teach HypnoBirthing in Wairarapa area. I teach the Mongan method and we are seeing some good results (I am also a Midwife) It is a private course, no funding as yet, but if interested you can find me through google.
