Well we have just changed Mitch from Karicare for newborns to the one for 6mth olds. (Can't remember what it is called)
He has been on it for 4-5 days now and seems to be constipated.
Anyone else experience this? Do I put him back on the newborn formula? Or should I keep up the new stuff and give him some prune juice (When he was younger he had some constipation problems)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Im sure Mitch will thank you

im not sure...i use the nuture starter gold 1...Rhiannon is almost 7mths and we havent changed her over...apparently according to the nurture person i spoke to i could keep bubs on that till she as a year old.
When RHiannon gets constipated we just try and get water into her...or prune juice...whatever works

I'm not a formula mum but I notice Mitch is only just 6mos and I was wondering if there is any reason why you can't leave him on newborn formula for another month? Otherwise I'd probably call the Doc's office for advice.

I use the Nurture one and haven't changed Charlotte over to the next stage yet - according to my Plunket Nurse you don't have to until they are a year old.
However, I did change from Karicare to Nurture and found that Charlotte was consipated - it lasted for about a week and when she did go, it was a doozy (just warning you now!). She is right as rain now though.
If you are still concerned though, see your GP or ring Plunket.

We've had HEAPS of constipation probs. Caitlin started on Nurture then switched to Karicare (she was bunged up with both). The only thing I can honestly say works to clear her out is a few teaspoons of apple/pear baby food.
If you're not keen on solids yet try a bottle of warm water between feeds, 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar in 100mls of warm water, cirling the legs (like riding a bike) or massaging the tummy (PM if you want details) if all else fails try a chiropractor, that always clears out Caitlin.
Good luck! I know how awful it is

He is on solids - He is bigger than some of the 1 yeard olds we know!!!
We have an appt. with our plunket nurse today.
Mitch however did do some little rocks yesterday arvo after some brown sugar and water.
So we shall see how he goes.
