OK so I can't really afford to buy and flash one so I am looking at hiring one. I want an electric one as they are so much easier to use (from past experience) than a manual one. I went into The Baby Factory today and the cost is $80 a month, $100 bond and YOU have to buy $80 with of stuff just to be able to hire one. For that cost I would be better off to buy one. So for those that have hired one, how much was it? and where did you get it from? And if anyone knows where in Palmy I could hire one from? ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I hired mine from Birthcare for around the same price. I'm finding the hand pump (Avent Isis) more effective atm tho and I am expressing full time for twins. I found the electric pump was great to start with but now I think there's something wrong with it... -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

There are a few places in palmy you can hire then through, baby factory being one of them - also think homecare (that place down rangitkei st) does them and a few of the chemists.. but they are all very much the same prices.. because you have to buy your own disposable expressing kit.
so i would say, buy it.. it's about the same start up cost, but at least its your and there's no fixed amount of time. but as i think i've said somehwere else.. if it's a hand one you get.. make sure you can use it with one hand.. cos it sucks not having a hand free... especially with a toddler around.  ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

I was going to sell mine on Trade Me but I have a Medela Mini Electric Breastpump with spare valves and membranes if you were interested? Its really easy to use and lightweight and I didn't use it that much.

| I brought the Avent isis uno electric pump for only $199, and its great, also comes with a battery pack so you can use it anywhere, or able to pump manually, so probably worth buying rather than hiring, in my opinion. |

Yeah I looked into hiring one aswell but they seemed too expensive. If the Baby Factory have a layby system, maybe you should do that until bubs arrives and it would work out roughly the same as hiring one for a few months!! Alternatively, I have mine on Trademe
