Hi all,
In the process of finding a midwife. What questions should I be asking? This is my first pregnancy after a long time trying so finding a great midwife is important to me.
Do some of them travel? I live in Levin and work in Palmerston North...should I look for a midwife in palmy (which will be easier when I'm working, and I'm hoping to have baby there), or should I look for one closer to my house?
Your tips/advice would be greatly appreciated

first thing to figure out is where you want to give birth. not sure of the situation down there but in auckland, midwives work out of a particular maternity unit so that limits who you can go with. i then looked at their preferences eg hospital, water, home? you want someone that agrees with your method of birth, not pushing their preferred method. i then went on feel, went with the one i felt comfy with. your local doctor should be able to helpyou with a list of midwifes then search them online, they often have profiles you can read. remember you can always change if you're not happy with your first chioce.

Do you have any friends with babies that could recommend one for you? It's so hard choosing otherwise as you don't know what they're going to be like in delivery ;)
