Hi,
I am on low dose aspirin for recurrent miscarriage and also a family history of blood clots (and I have had a superficial one in my leg). Clotting tests had come back fine but apparently there are hundreds of things they could test for and they have to pick the most likely. My obstetrician has said I need to come off them at 36 wks and haematologist has said 12 days before birth (am having caesar) so about 38 wks. What advice have others had? I feel like coming off them too early could mean I am risking baby, but going into labour early and having surgery with thinned blood is risking me. Aarhh! Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I was on aspirin until the day my baby was born. My mw wanted me to come off it at 36 weeks but the obstetrician told me to take it til baby was born. I had a normal delivery, was then on clexane for 6 weeks after birth (family history of blood clots and I had protein s deficiency). Obstetrician told me coming off the aspirin would put me at risk of developing a clot but would not harm baby and is such a low dose that the chances of bleeding heavily during labour/c section would be minimal. My sis was on clexane until the day she had her c section and had no problems.
Am now 25 weeks pregnant and on aspirin again, clexane after baby arrives.
Hope that helps

And if I remember right ob said baby is at risk for the first few weeks but once placenta is formed it shouldn't be a problem.
