Very cool Jess!
My mum bought the most ETREME present for Olivia for christmas. It is a baby console that you can tap and learn shapes and sing along with. You can also connect it up to the TV and they can play games with it on there (learning ones and baby sign language), I forget what it is called by OMG very cool!

I wanna get my tree up too! I love Christmas! Actually when we moved house (13 Oct) the previous owners left behind an artificial Christmas tree they didn't want, by accident. Hannah was so excited about it that I had it set up in her room for a couple of weeks
But you ladies.... Hannah is a LOT older than some of your bubs

ooh hey forgot to mention - does anyone else get those little mini silver xmas trees from the $2 shop. We have one for each girl and go to the warehouse and get some tiny bead garlands for 90 cents each in purples and pinks, and they decorate their own that sits on their dresser (cos i like to have my tree perfect.. lol) I can't wait to put it up now cos i got some neat new xmas ornaments for the girls - they get one each year and this year i thinks are just the cutest.

Ooh Janine, you have the best ideas! I am so getting Ella her own little tree this year, she will be so proud! Thanks!
Hmm..my little pony.. I bought Ella a dvd of some of the episodes, but she was scared of them.. some of them are pretty weird. I liked MLP when I was a kid too.. but so far Ella has no knowledge of anything really girly like that (incl Barbie, ick) and I'm fine with that..

LOL Maya asked me today if we can have our tree up, but I'm making her wait till December. Mostly coz I don't know what happened to the box of decorations when we moved, but I'll be gutted if we've lost them coz some of them are ones I made when I was at primary school...

ooh x loves my little pony - a friend was telling me about these set of books, i wasnt sure if i should get them or not, but they sound really good!
there is no such thing as too many books OR ponies in our house - x has a herd of over 30 ponies, and shows no sign of slowing down there either. then the clothes, (the KNICKERS!!!!!), the books and other accessories, i couldnt even count what she has.... huh, who said she is spoiled?????

lol i should post a pic of the books we have, I got these little board books when lissy was little in a little case. thought they would be perfect for little hands, and they were. BUT they also fit perfectly in little mouths. Anyway the books are still often read but they are very much munted from chewing. lol. So they make great teethers too!!

you people and your fake trees!! my family have a tradition of one dark night going down to the local pine forest and "acquiring" a real tree. it would be a real shame not to keep it up!

I saw those tree ornaments in $2!! Then walked past one of those really expensive homewares stores and saw they had them in the window exactly the same only probably a hundred times more expensive!
I'm going to get a couple for my coffee table. They're really cool!

lol Liz I was about to say the same.. we used to always have a fake tree at home but since living with DP the past two years we've had a real tree.
Going to make another post but Gillies and Mark (Professionals) real estate has this thing for Christmas where you donate a toy to underpriviledged children (they have a tree with names and ages, you pick one off and choose a present. Then they give you a Christmas tree (real) I think it's only for Wgtn though.

Liz - we may "acquire" our trees the same way back in good old Rotorua. Not sure where you'd find a tree to cut down in Wellington... no bloody grass to be found, let alone a tree that no one will miss.
I might do the Toys for Trees thing but we probably are going to be in CHCH/Ashburton for christmas.

Taumarunui was great - off ot the national park (not chopping down a native- they have pine on the side of the road) - and we are actually doing them a favour as pine choke our native trees. really I'm a conservationlist

A friend of mine has a 10 year old and when he was about 6, she got a 'real' tree that year.
AJ promptly turned around to her and said "Mum, thats not a real tree, real trees come in boxes!".
Oh to be young and innocent again!!!!

lol Kat at your remark about Ella not knowing about girly stuff - i wish i was so lucky. before i had kids i was full of the "i'm not going to let my girls have barbies they're unrealistic role models etc etc"..and i still think that, but paris has been given alot of them. We recently aquired a whole set of baby kelly dolls (you know, barbies baby sister) cos mum was getting rid of all my little sister's (18) stuff.. and so we now have a box full of these mint condition kelly dolls and clothes and accessories for africa. This has prompted Ayja to be soooo into barbies now.. we have had the box of barbies (yes, the box) out for the last week and each morning she comes into the lounge and goes "yay barbies!" i even bribed her yesterday into leaving daycare - which is usually a tantrum. but yesterday i said "let's go home and play barbies" and that was it she was in the car so quick.
Anyway.. as i was saying.. i don't think i can escape Ayja being a girly facist. she loves the ponies the barbies the dress up the dollys.. i spose she gets it from copying her older sis, i think she's missed a whole baby stage of play.. she jumped from rattles to barbies with not much in between. lol.

Just a word of warning my sons first christmas he was so fasinated by the christmas tree and decorations that he ended up pulling over the tree around5-7 times till I decided enough was enough and took it down (didn't want it to land on him) he was 7 months old and crawling - need I say more.
On that note I don't put up my tree till two weeks before christmas as thats when its s'pose to go up = my mum superstistous (sp???) about it so i guess it got handed down to me. Use to have real christmas tree as love the smell etc... but now stick with the artifical one - its so much easier.
