I'm pregnant with my second child (5th pregnancy for me, with 3 losses in the past - 2 before my son was born and 1 since), and have been spotting brown blood for 2 weeks now (15 weeks pregnant tomorrow). I was referred by my midwife for a scan last week to see if a source of the bleed could be found internally, but none was found. When the spotting still hadn't stopped this week, I saw my GP yesterday and she referred me for another scan, where a perigestational bleed/subchorionic hemorrhage was found. It measures 36mm x 25mm and is away from the placenta. I've had brown spotting (just enough to cover an area about 3cm on a panty liner every day) every single day for 2 weeks, not seeming to get any worse or better. It was red for a short time just over a week ago but has always been dark brown since then. No cramps as such - just a bit of a "stretching" feeling in my uterus from time to time.
Anyone else had one of these bleeds? What sort of steps did your midwife take to help manage it? And did it just resolve on it's own?

Hi Rin - I had this. I had spotting for 4 weeks, then had a big bright red gush (no cramping). Thankfully bubs was fine when I had an emergency ultrasound, and after the big bleed the spotting trailed off and finally stopped. As a precaution, I did go on basic bed rest for several weeks to give everything a chance to heal internally, and definitely no lifting! Also on my 5th pregnancy after having 3 consecutive miscarriages - so I know how it messes with your head! Really looking forward to my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks and hoping everything will look perfect and I can hopefully properly relax!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for that Mushroom. So glad to hear that yours healed up nicely. I'm really hoping that mine will too - doing my best to rest up, but I have an 18 month old toddler so that's easier said than done. Going to see my regular acupuncturist tomorrow to see if she can help me out a bit too. At what point did you have the bleeding and spotting? Like, how many weeks pregnant were you?
I'm meant to be having a follow-up scan in 2 weeks (at 17 weeks) to see if it's healed up a bit, and then the 20 week one. Feeling like this is gonna be the most scanned baby ever!
