everytime we put Caitlin on her tummy she spews! no mater when we do it - even just before her next feed, so last drink was 4hours before that!
I've tried the tri-pillow but that's too soft for her to get her chest up.
Any ideas?

I'd just leave it for a little while and then try again (as in, 2-4 weeks).... but I know for sure that Plunket would not agree with that so take it or leave it as you please

Ella pukes everytime aswell but she holds her head up and only occasionally rubs her face in it. If it doesnt really bother her i would just keep doing it

Benjy is the same. He loves tummytime though and it doesn't seem to bother him that he pukes so I just spread a cloth nappy underneath him, take his top off and let him go for it!

Yea Ethan pukes but only if he is getting upset. But yea I agree, with Mel - spread a cloth nappy underneath him, take his top off and let him go for it.

Is it a proper spew or just a bit of a burp up? Erin is doing this too, never used to, although now it's not really *that* often. What she brings up is pretty watery, (ie: lotsa spit) and varies from a teaspoon to 2-3 tablespoons worth. Does that sound like what Caitlin is doing?

Rhiannon use to do that all the time as well...didnt matter when we did tummy time...so we just put a nappy under her and once she had spewed she was fine...as long as she isnt destressed by it, i would just keep going.

Ella 'spills' at every tummy time. She spills if we lie her on her back too, though! It's her hobby.

Jax - Dont be to concerned with spilling its mostly saliva and not formula. Ella brings up the chunkies haha ewwww and then occasionally rubs her face in it

We have this problem too so she definately only gets tummy time just before her feed is due. But then she is too busy sucking on her hands to push herself up properly Toni, try a rolled or folded up towel or something to put under her chest. My playmat/gym thing came with a special pillow to use - its still a little big for her yet but my plunket nurse said a towel or something works just as well. Actually here is a photo of her using it...

I tried the pillow again last night and that worked really well (didn't spew and lasted about 2 mins). She gets really upset if she's on her tummy, especially just after she's spewed (excess formula looking) - like a proper "why are you doing this to me" cry rather than a whinge.
I think it's all her weight on her belly that she has problems with.
What is she "supposed" to be doing now? Just holding her head up whilst on her forearms(I put her arms there)? or pushing herself up? I find that she throws her arms out to the sides and lifts her head and shoulders up, but this is just after she has spewed and she doesn't want any part of her in the spew
I think I'll have a chat with our PAFT lady today (much nicer than our Plunket Nurse!) and see what she says. It does bother me that there might be something I'm doing that isn't helping the matter, so want to get as many opinions as poss.
Thanks ladies

I had the same problem with Amelia, plus she hated tummy time. And I must admit I got a bit useless about it, but in the past week she seems to have changed her mind. She also likes being put on her tummy across my knee (so her legs and head are free, with tummy on my knees). If it really annoys her, I'd actually stop for a while and just give it a go in another wee while.

Laura never had tummy time, at 3 weeks old the plunket nurse put her on her tummy she screamed in pain and rolled over.. and then again and again... it didnt effect her much . she was crawling at 4 months and walking at 8 months ;)

Ashleigh is so cute, Kelly! I love her wee expression too. I'm curious about the swiss ball method too... but sounds like you'd need a swiss ball for it in which case we wont be using it!!

LOL Swiss ball method is when you roll the baby around on top of the ball. Apparently it evenly disperses their weight so it's not all on her tummy.
I was a bit dubious of this as the ball would surely push into her little tummy even more than a flat surface?!?!
True to form.... we now have a big yellow swiss ball covered in baby puke NICE!
I guess we'll just have to keep trying her on her tummy.
Last night she did something a bit new and exciting. She was laying on her back on the floor (nappy free time) and was pushing against my foot and moving herself along the floor like that

Yay Caitlin ! It's quite exciting when they start moving themselves around, Erin has just started bringing both her knees up under her tummy and trying to stick her bum in the air - it's pretty funny to watch
