Daniel and I are not rolling in money so can't really afford to go and buy Ethan lots of presents. Ethan will be 4 months old at Christmas, he has lots of toys already and won't be needing any other toys until later on. He will be getting lots of presents from other family members so I was thinking we could just get him clothes otherwise a little toy which he can say "This is what I got for my first christmas". Linelle, last xmas Hannah was 9 weeks and basically we got her nothing. I think I might have bought a book and some clothes. He wont remember and like you say everyone else will buy him stuff, so personally I wouldnt get anything much.  ------------- Aimee Hannah 22/10/05 Greer 11/02/08 |

Little to nothing.... she got a rattle and a few items of clothing from me. She did love the rattle though! hehe

we only got mikey a couple of toys for his birthday (big mistake, he now has waaaay too many toys) and we didn't get him anything except a couple of items of clothing that he needed for his first xmas (he was 6 weeks old). maybe instead of getting him something he doesn't need you could maybe set up a savings account for him and put the money you were going to spend in there. ------------- |

I must admit we're planning on spending a bit, we want to get the peek and play discovery dome though it will be the only thing we get her. (whether or not we do get it though is another matter - they are pricey). We've been wanting that for her for a while though and thought Christmas was about the right time she'll be interested in it.

I have bought Amelia a wee sunhat and some sox so far (both of which I would have had to buy anyway).
We're thinking of getting her a wee pool - just one of those inflatable things, so only about $15-20 from what I've seen in the brochures and maybe a coupla toys to go in that. She'll be 5½mths by xmas. Plus a mobile for over her cot (she's still in her large bassinette). But that's probably about it. ------------- Selina http://lilypie.com">

For Rhyley we won't get too much as he will not even be aware it Christmas so focusing on the other two this christmas, probably clothes and we have seen this cool toy and some rattles. I have so many toys left over from the other two that he really doesn't need anything else. I have also told family they don't need to get him anything or at least not to go over board. My mum and dad beleive in all kids get the same and they spend alot on the other two and so she was trying to get round it by saying that but I 'growled' and said he won't even know whats going on... we will see when christmas rolls around. ------------- Ann

I think I got her some cloths but nothing else (she was 2 months old). She already had way too many toys and cloths!! She would have not remembered and I am sure by the age where she can appreciate first Xmas toys...she would have lost it!!

We got Austin a couple of neat toys he didn't really need, like a crawling pooh bear, a set of rattles, little touch leappad and other small gifts. he got lots of pressies from everyone else so it didn't really matter we only got little things.
He was 3 months old. This Christmas he's 14 months we've got a big ride-in rc car (switches to self control when he's older) and an Elmo TMX (daddy insisted, we have waaaay to much Elmo) and a set of water wings (daddy and mummy are getting a pool!) but that's it so far. Christmas and Brithday's I'd rather get him big toys I couldn't get otherwise. He only got three pressies from us for his bday. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Sunhat Something which will match his development in another month or two Cuddle toy for bedtime (apparently that's about the age they start bonding with one) Don't feel bad if you feel there's nothing he needs and wait til next year... he won't feel left out  -------------  |

for jack's first xmas he was 4mths old and we didn't get him much. we got him a littletouch leappad and we made him a special teddy at the teddy factory. that's about it apart from a few small toys. charli will get a special teddy as well and we've got her a couple lamaze toys. maybe you could get him something like the leappad, jolly jumper, special teddy, paddle pool...... ------------- http://www.alternatickers.com">

I got Jake a farmers santa bear last year, as ti has the year embroidered on the foot, so that is his momento of his first christmas. I got him some stacking rings and some clothes, and everyone else spent WAAAYYY too much, which annoyed me a little, as I had asked them not to. Ah, well, their prerogitive and money, I guess. ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

This will be Taine's first xmas, but he's nearly one, AND all the toys he has a rather babyish - so we are getting him a fair amount. This year though, i know he will get money so we are going to put any money the kids get towards swimming lessons for next year. AND, I'm going to get them a goldfishj |

| I must admit we have gone a bit overboard, Addison will be almost 6 months and we have got her a learning puppy thing and one of those oh what are they called, its like a front door, a learning house or something. Quite big but the only reason we got her something like this is because she is almost sitting up by herself and will get lots of use out of it between now and her birthday and next christmas. If she was under 3 months I probably wouldnt really have bothered but she is wanting to be entertained now. |

Erin will be about five and a half months when Christmas comes around, but I have taken care of the majority of her Christmas presents already. I probably wouldn't have gotten her so much stuff if I hadn't had the opportunity (one of my neighbors works for Hasbro), so she'll be getting a Peek n Play Discovery dome, a couple of things that go with that, plus a pop up animals keyboard type thing, and my aunt gave us that Fisher Price Zoo train as a baby present but we have been "saving" it for Xmas as well. I have just picked up a cute little outfit for her for Christmas day (xmas themed shortie singlet thing, matching headband and socks), and will probably pick up a Farmers / Kmart Xmas bear for her as well. I don't know what her nana will get her, but I think it is likely to be a Jolly Jumper. We bought tonnes of stuff for Charlotte- DH and I had a huge argument that I can still remember because I spent hundreds on toys/clothes/books etc etc. I can't remember one single individual thing I acutally got her so I am positive that at 9 months she doesn't remember a thing either! In hindsight it was a very silly thing to do so I think just get them any little thing that you are comfortable with  No point breaking the bank for presents they (and you!) probably won't even remember.------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3
