Hi y'all

I am wondering if it is possible for you to leak amniotic fluid?? If it is possible, how can you tell that it's happening?? Is it something to worry about or totally normal??

On two seperate mornings, I have arrived to work and (sorry for the TMI) but my knickers have been very wet. Not sweaty wet (sorry I know thats gross) or anything like that and I don't think I had leaked urine cos I wasn't holding on or anything and it didn't smell like urine either.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks

Yep it sure is. Happened to me with Kobe and I had no idea, i didnt even realise the discharge amount wasnt normal. I know they say the smell is different etc but I didnt even notice that. If you are concerned talk to your midwife, they can do an easy test to check if its amniotic fluid or just normal discharge. Oh and I think it can sort of seal itself again but there is risk of infection if it is amniotic fluid and you would need antibiotics so best to get it sorted just incase.

I thought I was leaking fluid right before I was due with Briona, and my m/w told me to put a pad in, lie down for an hour and then check the pad when I got up. If its just increased discharge then you won't get all that much on the pad. If it is waters, they will all seep in when you stand up. Something like that. For me it was just heavy discharge so I can't remember exactly.

The other thing is that it doesn't smell. Whereas anything else does.

Considering you're just entering the 3rd trimester I'd give the m/w a call and just check everything's okay. If it is amniotic, it can be easily settled at this stage I think.

When i was 36 weeks pregnant with my son i went for a scan (cant remember why???) and he had no fluid left around him!!! they said that i either leaked it or he drank it all and never passed it!!!! i was induced a few weeks later after being monitored and it felt weird when they broke my waters as there was only a mini trickle!! but my bubs was born healthy not sure if the leaking started early but im presumming it did as there was none left at all (details are a bit hazey sorry as it was 3ish years ago! lol). Theres a medical term for it but il have to look it up in Bays book as i cant remember!.
Not sure if that makes any difference to your story lol but thought i would share it anyway! lol

I would definately go see your MW though and get it checked out as its better to be safe than sorry
