Just to let everyone know that Fay Ann arrived in a big hurry at 6.50am yesterday morning, at 35 weeks, weighing 2.630kg after a 10 hours labour. She is fine, but in Neonates for a few more days as she is not feeding very well. I came home tonight and will go back when my milk comes in.

WOW congrats! I hope she is doing ok...we have had some early babies on here lately....
Cant wait to see photos i bet she is gorgeous! Good luck and hope the milk starts flowing big time soon. |

Thank you so much, finding things a bit overwhelming at the moment, nothing is ready for her, and no, I hadn't got round to packing, hadn't even bought a nightie.
Fay is doing well, she is latching on and making efforts to suckle but hasn't quite got yhe instincts to work out the suck and swallow bit yet, not that there is anyhtin to swallow. I am frustrated as i don't seem to be able to express anyhting, even colostrum so she is being tube fed with formula, I know it will take time, but I want to do it myself Will do photos and stories when brain is less mashed thank you all for you lovely words Teresa, I'm sorry to leave you and Cherie in january, I tried to hang on, I was only joking about being over pregnant but I think Fay heard me ------------- http://www.babysfirstsite.com">

lol no probs Claire! And I guess you now know how long after your show to expect the baby (obviously not 7 weeks) 
Your milk may not come in until Fay can stimulate it with suckling. Don't worry about the formula though, I'm a bf mum but Hannah's first feed was formula (as I was still being stitched up from c/s) and she took to the breast just as easily when she was ready. How long do you think she'll be in neonates for? Hope you get to have your little bubba at home soon. Can someone please convert 2.630kg into lbs for me?  I think it must be about mid-6lb?------------- |

Thanks for converting the weight for me too, as my brain is so mashed I couldn't do the sums. Fay is under phototherapy again today but her bilirubin levels are dropping so I am hoping she will be out of the incubator later today for some more cuddles.

Just quickly to say that Fay came home with us from the neonatal unit this after noon. It's been a tough couple of weeks but she is fine and growing, thankfully no health concerns. She is curently sleeping while Neil and Mum and Dad are out shopping for those last minute things. like bottles and sterilising stuff, that I hadn't even thought about, but hopefully that is only a temporary measure as i am able to feed her more and more each feed.
Fay is gorgeous, i am knackered and neil can't wait to have us all to himself for a few days. Now the stress is off about breast feeding and I have made the decision that it is not the end of the world if she has the top up of formula, I am really enjoying my little girl, of course she is the most beautiful baby ever, but I am allowed to say that, I will add photos as and when I work out how to do it ------------- http://www.babysfirstsite.com">

Fay is home and we don't seem to have broken her yet, judging by the loud earth splitting screams that were coming from upstairs an hour ago.

We have had an amazing 24 hours of neonatal paranoia and sheer delight, can't get used to not having some one telling us it's time to do everything and what order to do it in.
