GRRRRRRRR ! MEN ! 
Erin has been mucking about a bit with some of her feeds lately, especially the one at 9:30pm. We got some faster flow teats which seemed to help a bit, but she is still only taking around 180/190mls now, whereas before she was clearing 200-210mls. She is also easily distracted by, well... anything ! The TV, the xmas tree, the cats, a sneeze, a burp, you name it she'll turn her head to look at it. Anyway - Roland and I are both impatient, but now I'm starting to think he is worse than me, because with this feeding thing he "gives up" more easily and doesn't even bother sometimes burping her to "make room"... I find it really frustrating that he can't seem to acknowledge even a little bit that despite it being normal for her to take a little more or a little less each feed, that it's a natural thing for me (as her mummy) to be worried (even just a tiny bit). My point is, I hate feeling like I'm being brushed off, especially by my own husband ! Doesn't help that I had a hell of a time this avo and felt hella sick with period pain, knotted up muscles and a pounding headache. She really isn't doing that bad if she is taking that much milk. I found that when we started solids, the milk intake went down significantly to the point where I was lucky to get 200-300mls into her a day (excluding her night feeds when she would tend to drink the most).
A suggestion is that perhaps you take her into a room to feed her, somewhere where she is not going to be distracted by anything. Another thing I found that helped was waiting till she was STARVING before giving her the bottle. Might mean a few grumpy moans but at least you know she really wants it. Hope you feel better too.

I'm starting to wonder if it means she wants to drop a feed. She didn't settle last night until almost 8:30pm, when normally she goes down at 7:30pm ish and is out like a light by 8pm at the latest. *sigh* I just don't know, and that in itself is the most frustrating thing. ------------- Jacquie - Mama to Erin, 13.07.06 - Chief Cat Chaser & Marmite Sammie Eater

Well, they dont come with instruction manuals (da*m it!) but use your intuition - give dropping a feed a go and see how you get on. Its all trial and error.
You may find she is just changing her routine (as they always seem to do once they have lulled you into a false sense of security!). And if she just doesn't want the milk, don't push it. As long as she is getting a decent amount during the day, then I, personally, can't see a problem (unless she isn't putting on weight, developing or is unhappy). ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yes, the delightful age where they are little nosey parkers and won't sit still for a second! Great! Just be thankful that you don't have a nipple in her mouth at the time, as usually they don't let go to turn their heads. 
And I'm with Georgia... don't be worried about her not drinking as much as she used to. And give the man a whack from me. |

You ladies are so fantastic, I don't know what I'd do without this site, my insecurities would otherwise drive me nuts I think !! We're going to try dropping the 9:30pm feed tonight and see how we go... and not change anything else - easy enough to add it back on if Erin isn't ready for it.
Oh, and hubby has come to, finally !! Is being all cuddly and reassuring now... yay... PLUS I found some jeans that fit (despite the fact that they're a large - BOO). ------------- Jacquie - Mama to Erin, 13.07.06 - Chief Cat Chaser & Marmite Sammie Eater

Big hugs coming your way Jax, i know excatly how you are feeling, but i agree with the others, drop the feed and if she wants it she will wake.
also remember that from day to day a babys appetite will change...rhiannon is on 4 bottles but they are only 150mls each time, and she doesnt always drink them all...you may also find that now Erin is on solids she doesnt need that last feed. just remember you are doing a great job and although at times you may feel like you are floundering Erin is a happy and healthy baby and that is evident by the pictures so you are doing great. ------------- http://lilypie.com">
