It's been a month since I said to myself 'hmmm, yes, I'll go on this here minipill and give it 3 months before I decided if I'll stay on it or not'... and I might chuck it in already. Those of you who've been on it before, if you had any side-effects, did they get worse after a month of use, better, or just stay much the same?
Maybe I get more emotional because I had a baby 10 weeks ago, but I could swear my hormones had sorted themselves out from the newborn roller-coaster ride pretty well before I started taking the minipill, and now I'm crying at songs that remind me of happy moments, and can't walk past a dead hatchling bird on the street without getting all upset... I live in Palmy and it's friggin windy and there are a LOT of those to be found when I'm out on my walkies!! And I was at my pre-preg weight a week after Ella was born. Now I'm slowly but steadily gaining it, even though I'm not eating more junk (still eating it, don't get me wrong, but not more of it!) and am more active. So I blame the minipill... for the extra pies (despite breastfeeding), the random tears, the yukky metallic taste in my mouth, and of course, the "breakthrough bleeding" (what a rip-off that was). Pity I can't also blame it for the new lines under my eyes and flat hair. Does this sound like anyone else? And did it improve if you went off the minipill? Friggin hate it but I don't like the alternatives either. I'm trying to decide if it's worth another month or 2 before making up my mind...

Pregnant? sorry, had to say it, the symptoms sound very similar!
I got the prescription for it but never actually tried it.. I don't like pills.. but it did seem like the best option at the time

Andie, I had the extact same reaction to the normal pill (hormones all over the place) GP said the hormone in the pill was too much for my post-baby body to take so I decided to use alternative methods of contraception that didn't involve putting chemicals into my system, I felt 100 time better just the day after I stopped taking it too. Have a word with your LMC/GP and see what that say. Hope you feel better soon, nothing worse than feeling like sh*te when you ahve a beautiful new baby to look after as well as yourself

Even though there were other issues in play for me, the pill doesn't agree with me either, and neither did the mini pill.

I've been taking it for around a month and haven't noticed any side effects. There are other types - maybe its just a matter of trying a few to see which one suits you??? Or maybe a hpt like the other girls are suggesting!!!

Hmmm, might go off it now then. and if things return to "normal" I won't try again. If they don't, it's either the scariest news in the world, or this is just how I am post-baby!!

What a pain Andie, it's certainly not sounding all that the minipill is promised to be. And as for the options.... hmmm well not much "option" there g/l!

It did my head in, and I went off it after only a couple of weeks. Am not going to bother with anything else, we will just try to be very careful with other forms of protection.

I hate it, infact I hate all pills (but thats cos my body rejects them all) so I would only back you up to go off it. I'm planning on getting an IUD once this one is out, i'm going to see if i'm covered for the Mirena - if not then it'll be a normal one.

Well I am gutted to announce that breastfeeding obviously deosn't keep the hag away in my house, she showed up yesterday so am feeling a little ripped off - and now I actually have to start being a little serious about contraception!

Sure doesn't Emma Sorry for OT but that could be the reason your babies are not happy with breastfeeding at the moment. The hormones can make it go salty and while Briona didn't care (at 3mos), Hannah at 2mos would scream instead of feed Try them again in 3 days' time?

Good theory - Maya used to get a bit unsettled with it, but the gremlins have been unsettled for a few weeks

Well I'm glad to have given the minipill the flick for now... but if this weird metallic taste doesn't go away, methinks I'll need to see the dentist (NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!). At least I'm not preggers though... started to worry about it and tested on Christmas eve.
