How sophisticated is a sweep? DH gave me a VE (with different intention though ) and found my cervix has started opening. Could he have accidentally "swept" me or is that a more sophisticated movement ie you need to know what you're doing?

Well... if you've already had a child then it is likely that your cervix is already open. (So the doctor told me) I think it sits around 1-2cm dilated.

And I think you have to be pretty vigorous up there to do a sweep. (Well... more so than any male would with the goal he probably had in mind)

I wouldn't say it's sophisticated, but I would say it's a bit beyond what you may er, achieve in the bedroom?

doesnt a sweep involve actually going right inside and sepearting the sac/waters etc... from the cervix? (gosh i hope i have used the right words! lol!!) and it basically stimulates a hormone to get things going?? i dont "think" what hubby did would be classed as a sweep if if didnt get right under there or something.... Gosh im terrible with words! lol- i haven had a sweep so cant really say much, but just from the tiny bit i know about them im guessing it would take a bit more than what he did to do it?

All I know is that it "swishes" the waters.... but I don't think I've had a sweep because 1) there was no pinky discharge which is common after a sweep because of whatever disturbance and 2) I haven't gone into labour Had me wondering though....

Anyway not long for me to go now I get strong braxton hicks for about an hour every night before sleep, baby is really low and uncomfortably in the right position, and I'm telling everyone that I'm having her next week! (I'm due on Sunday 14th but the other two girls have been 1-2 days early). I'd be glad to go into labour anytime from now
