In the last week my bras have been causing me a few problems. Sorry in advance for the rambling lol

Pre-preggy I was a 12F most of the time (with some bras I could fit a 14E or a 12G) so I've got enough boob! lol. Since getting preggers I've had to buy those bra extenders and they have worked ok at getting extra use out of my bras as I have expanded a bit.

But now I'm just plain uncomfortable. Bras in my size aren't cheap (I'm sure there are many on here that can relate) - in general there's no way I can spend under $50 per bra and the only brand that I fit nicely is Fayreform.

After reading a few much older posts the general consensus is that good sports bras are great - my problem with this is that farmers, k-mart, warehouse, bendon shop, bendon factory shop (in otaki), literally no where I've found within 2 hrs drive has anywhere near my size in a sports bra (which im guessing is probably a 14F, or 14G). I'm sure that wellington would probably have something but then I also don't want to spend lots on a couple of good bras and then my size changes more and more as I get bigger and these become redundant.

If they weren't so darn expensive I'd probably have a much easier decision.

What should I do?

Well I think you got some of my breast so I don't have a lot of advice, but I was thinking that sport bras would maybe not be so helpful/comfy for your size? You'll have to take that how you like cause the biggest I have ever been, when pregnant and fully breastfeeding, is 12B

I don't get where my boobs have come from, I think I have everybody's in my whole family. The biggest size in my family (including aunts/cousins) is probably my mum and she's only a 12B!!

I've told DH that when I'm older I'm getting a boob reduction lol

why dont you try asking your bendon outlet to ring - or you ring - the ones up here and get some sent to you - they have sales on still....and some good bargains..i would say if they are mat bras and in your size you are likley to buy them once they get them sent down anyways...or get one sent and then get more if they are ok....soem great prices at the moment...fayreform is still up to 18DD $15 each...saw in pukekohe on thursday

BTW if anyone wants 10E mat bras i saw a three pack in westgate last week for $20!!!! unbelievable!!!

I'd fall out the top (or bottom) in an 18DD lol. I'm sure DH wouldn't mind, but I would

I'll keep that in mind about getting stuff sent down

Closest Bendon Outlet is in Otaki but it would be well worth a trip.

I'm going to wellys in the next week but I can't imagine that we will go to bras n things cos DH would be bored and moan and groan lol. And besides it still doesn't fix the problem of the cost. After Xmas, DH's guitar, a Cot and a recent spend up on Amazon I just don't have the money sitting around to get them if they are going to be $50+ like I always have to pay. And I've remembered that DH's car needs to get a warrent and rego in the next 10 days.

I really can't see a way to fix my problem. I'm actually seriously considering taping up my boobs (I did this in high school to hide their size) because it gives extreme support - sounds screwed up but if it works I don't care lol.

I got a couple of Bendon maternity bras in an 18F from the factory shop out by the airport here in Auck for $15 each during a sale when I was preg. Maybe you can explain your dilemma to the people at your local Bendon factory shop and see if they can order some in for you. Otherwise I can send you the one I have that I've never worn (my boobs got even huger once my milk came in so it didn't fit) but it might be too big across the back for you?

Yeah I think your best bet is what Bombshell said- get the Bendon Factory shop to ring around. I got some 14G maternity bras from the Hamilton one for $12 (can you beleive they were actually too small when my milk came in? ) they were really really ugly but they were cheap, comfy and did the job. I think to save some money you might be best to just wear the feeding bras now rather than buying sports ones and then feeding ones later. I wore mine from about 6 months onwards- they're really comfotable.

Maybe you could try and have a hunt around online as well?

I just found outmy 18 DD is TIGHT - god i onlybought it a few weeks ago....luckily it was only $15...so off to find some more....hope to fit back in this one tho as it is mega comfy like a sports bra...the others arent as supportive
Ive given up on kmart ones...not big enough at all...i too know about overflow...not the best look huh.
PM me your details if you would like me to have them save some at bendon for you...

Thanks Emma for the offer but I think you are right an 18 would be too big for me across the back. Even a 16 is too big across the back for me still.

I've strapped my chest today, ahhh it feels great lol no movement from my boobs! It's funny to think that this is the most supportive I ever feel, no bra can support me this way .. when we go to wellys I'll go through the Bendon Shop in Otaki and see what they can do for me, but in the mean time what I've done will work.

I had the same problem looking for maternity bras I needed a 16H and could not find one anywhere in taranaki and finally 1 store in new plymouth found one for me and it was the only one in stock and they said they couldnt get anymore for me either, it cost me $70 so I only made do with the one and never got the chance to go out of town to look for more unfortunatly

I don't get the idea of sports bras being better... personally I've found the cups on regular ones give better support (but that's for 14B's)... I've had whopping great boobies before though, and never found the sports ones were any good... so I guess whatever kind on bra you find the most comfy and supportive now you might also find good in a maternity bra.  It really sux about the prices of them though, eh... you've got my sympathies, Stacey!  Bendon shop has a huge sale on right now... but with only ONE maternity bra discounted - hmph.  If you go in and find something you like, note down the product code from the size tag, then ring one or 2 of the factory shops and ask if they've got it any cheaper - sometimes they do.

There is a bra shop in Feilding too, I can't remember what it is called but they stock a whole lot more maternity bras it seems, including the HotMilk range.

I know you don't want to spend too much but honestly investing in some good bras is really worth while...anything without an underwire I found was best, otherwise I was in too much pain.

Good luck and I hope you find something!

I have to agree with Paws, it really is worth the money you spend. I am a 12F so understand the problem well but have not regreted buying 2 soft cup bras at $55 each that have seen me through the pregnancy so far (I just wash each night and dry in hot water cupboard so always have a clean one).

The expense sucks, the relief on your back and chest is worth every dollar

Yep ennz, I can believe it - my 18F's didn't fit me when my milk came in

Went to the airport Bendon outlet yesterday and treated myself to some "not breastfeeding anymore" bras and when they fitted me I was an 18G!

what about the Berlei factory store in Palmy?

Posted By: kebakat
Date Posted: 05 January 2007 at 3:40pm
The Berlei factory is pretty crap for larger sizes, Berlei don't make (that I'm aware) F or G cup sized bras. Good for knickers though hehe

I am so pleased that so far my boobs haven't really grown much! I am still in my normal underwires and they are comfy, but like many of you I will be starting the factory trek for decent f cups soon enough!

ok i went to bendon at airport today and got me a new bra - and they had the same one up to 10 and 12 F, and total sizings up to 18F...in pink, neutral, blue and black. neutral is $40 but others are $25
They are Berndon "stylish maternity bra" RRP $44.95 style 71-525 on mine
If you want to call them they are (09) 255 0175

others they had there were $45 and a higher cup right across - nice but i decided to get only one today and see what is in Pukekohe tomorrow cause mum has decided we are going down there for the baby stores again...

You poor thing I don't have the biggest boobs so cheap bras work for me. I don't know if this would give enough support but have you tried a breast feeding singlet with a shelf bra or any singlet with a shelf bra?

Posted By: kebakat
Date Posted: 06 January 2007 at 8:32am
Shelf bras don't do anything for me, my boobs are far far far too heavy, they end up sagging to the ground lol
