I am just wondering if Rhiannon is starting to wean herself off the formula as its getting harder and harder to get the formula into her.

So im wondering if i a) try her on cows milk or b) try her on toddler milk

what are your thoughts?, when did you change to toddler milk or cows milk

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought that cows milk was for children after they turn 1, if they have it before it doesn't have everything that they need.

I think Stacey is right, everything I've heard says they should be on breastmilk or formula until 1 year.
Do you give it in a bottle? Maybe you could try offering it to Rhiannon in a cup instead?

Yeah I'm going to jump on the band wagon as well!
Milk hasn't got adequate nutricional qualities by itself, I think most even say on the side of the bottles "not to be used as a sole infant formula". That and their tummies are not able to process whole dairy products like that properly before are 1. I think that if you are getting enough fluid into her water and formula wise (600ml) then not worry to much about it (I sound like a broken record with that phrase).
Maybe hit up a Plunket nurse/healthline and see what they think about the situation as well.
Could be that Rhiannon might be ready for complete weaning from formula sooner, she has been pretty full on with her feeding, yes?
Good luck with whatever you are doing

yeah she is really good with her feeding...plenty of food and a wide range, plenty of yoghurt etc to keep her milk intake up, but only 300mls or less of formula a day.

which is why i thought she might be self weaning...

when i see the nurse for her check up in a couple of weeks, i will query about putting her onto toddler formula

I wouldn't be putting her on cows milk or a toddler formula till she is 1. They don't have the benefits that the formula has in them for her that she needs. Try a cup or a sipper bottle. You can get the ones with a straw she may just not like a bottle anymore, but that formula is very important for her.

At a guess, the toddler formula would just fill her up more?

I asked the same question of my plunket nurse when Anastasia wouldn't take a bottle, was told that cows milk contains too much protien for babies under 12mths to cope with.
