Yup you can just hire a truck (far cheaper than getting a moving company) but just hire it from a place that does nationwide unless you don't mind driving it back to where you got it from. Budget rentals aren't bad but I'm sure there are cheaper out there

There are trucks you hire and then leave them in another place.. DP's grandma did that when she moved from the south island to the north. You pack them all up and drive it yourself, or get someone else to. I don't think they are that expensive.

Yup, try www.budget.co.nz - Budget they are who we rent off when we move. I'm pretty sure you can pick up the truck in Welly and return it somewhere in Auckland. The lighter trucks you can drive on just a car licence but we normally need to do a couple of trips so if you have a lot of stuff you would need a bigger truck and someone with an HT licence to drive it!

When we moved up here it cost us about $350 - we used Mcnamara Shift a Flat. But we know a guy up here now who is cheaper whom we could probably recommend to you. Let us know.

We used Conroy when we moved down from Akl to Wels. They were really good- they came in and packed it all up really well then drove it down and moved it all in. I rang every single company in the yellow pages and they were the cheapest (for both packing and moving). Mum used Moving company and found them terrible- no one in our entire family is allowed to use them now through threat of dismemberment!
