I have decided to stop breast feeding. I would like some advice on the easiest way to go about it. I would like to do it within two weeks if I can.
Any suggestions and also what brand of formula do you recommend??

It's usually not too bad to go from breast to bottle timeframe wise, two weeks should be plenty. I ended up switching over to formula over a week, started off with 1 feed of formula a day, then two, then three etc until fully formula fed.
The brand of formula we use is S26 Gold, but there are a few brands out there that are just as good - what you could do is buy some of the single serve sachets that they have at the supermarkets, and see if Ethan likes a particular one, this is what I did before I chose to stick to the S26.
Edited to add: And if you experience any issues with engorgement, use cabbage leaves ! Pop them in the fridge first, and then stuff them in your bra - and should work a treat.

We had Andrew on s26 (just the normal stuff a lot cheaper) from when we had to introduce formula. We topped him up after each breast feed (apart from the odd night when DH knew I just had to sleep). As Jax said doing 1 a day then 2 and so on seems like a good idea.

i use s26 gold on kayla too. i dragged most of mine out over a month though. introducing her bottle for the night time feed, then her lunchtime one over a large part then when i felt ready i added an extra bottle a day and expressed a little milk off (and tipping it!)getting less each time while adding a bottle (and that proberly makes no sense!) in the end i made the call to go cold turkey just before christmas (no more breast) but still did the odd bit of expressing every day or so until my milk clamed down (i had lots)

I used s26 as well, as I mixed fed, due to supply problems. I was given it at the hospital and one of the midwives there said while she couldn't reccomend any professionally, she said persoanlly, she liked that one as it is sweeter and more like breast milk. She would have got shot for telling me that, though! I didn't use it when I went over to the one year plus formula, as it was "flavoured", and I wasn't too keen on starting with any kind of flavoured milk! I now use Nurture in the green tin. (cows milk makes jake spotty)

Thanks that sounds good. So what can I expect with my milk? Will my body just stop making it? I am a first time mum and i have no idea.

Yep as you feed less and less, your milk supply will dry up. If you change suddenly (ie just stop breastfeeding) you will become engorged and you'll need to express a bit of it off after a day or two, but not so much that it thinks you're still feeding baby and produces more again! An easier way on your body is to gradually decrease bf-ing and increase formula feeding but not all babies are happy with both.

Wow looks like most use s26 but if you find that he is a bit unsettled on that then i recommend nurture starter (yellow and blue tin) it has a different base ingrediant to s26 so can be a bit gentler on thier tummys if they cant hand s26. As has been mentioned though most brands have sample sachets (which i might add are really handy for leavign in the baby bag just incase)

karicare is also another really common and good one at the ned of the day they all do the same thing some are just slightly different makeup and what works for one child might not work for another. my cousins baby was getting constipated on nuture so switched to karicare... trying the sample size ones would be a good way so you dont spend too mcuh money on something that may not suit ethan.
my milk still hasnt completely dried up yet either but doesnt leak out like it did on a few occasions a few weeks back! lol.

I found out that althou they can't recommend an infant formula to a new mum s26 is the one that hospitals and midwives prefer to give babies.

yeah they wont let you see the containers or anything and aren't suppose to tell you what brand it is! It was the hospital that suggested the heinz nurture to us though when kobe was in nicu. Also another thing i found interesting, at the parent show one of the formula people was telling me they arent allowed to give away samples or really promote the first formulas to use. Its not like they would go round telling people not to breastfeed but you would think they might be able to at least inform you about them.
