Got it last night so it hasn't scabbed yet, won't look so good tomorrow until it heals...
It's on my upper left arm, I've got Maya's name, DOB and handprint on my upper right. And I talked to the tattooist (a friend of my brothers) about reinking a smaller one I have underneath this one to incorporate them into one design and he's going to draw something up for me.
No regrets - I actually think this is the best tattoo I have (I have 6) in terms of positioning and the ink looks great, not sure how much it will fade as it settles yet tho.

Myamy they dont really hurt that much, no where near what you are probably imagining. its more annoying than anything but if you do get one and are worried about the pain go to your chemist and get some emla (sp?) cream and put it on a couple of hours before, it numbs the area.

Wow are you crazy lol.....That looks great as you can tell I'm way to chicken to get one, although i've always wanted one down the side of my body between my boob and hip.....but the sound alone puts me off let alone the pain...Your brothers friend did a great job!!

awww I want one done now (especially with that cream that numbs it, thanks for that Robyn )
I want to get her name in nice scrolly writing and then a lilly (like those white and pink ones (I think they're called Tiger Lillies?)
I have no idea where I would want it though, somewhere not visible to anyone else (i.e. under clothes).
I wonder how much something like that would cost?

Both Maya's handprint and the twins names cost me $200 each altho I did get a really good deal on the twins one coz the guy is a mate of my brothers, normally it would have been around $280.
Color is generally dearer than black and it depends on how big you want it but you can probably get something nice done for under $300.

Tattoos are expensive, but worth it in my experience. My tatt is going to cost me $200 as well, as an early bday present from DH. I also just thought I'd mention that my tattooist's studio and a couple of other places I've been too won't use numbing creams or anaesthetic, because it interferes with the body's natural responses.

I don't know that I'd bother with anasthetic - it doesn't actually hurt anywhere near as much as you'd think.

Ditto ! Esp. if it's a long session, I just tend to 'zone out' after a while... and if there's relaxing / interesting music on, and I get chatting to the tattooist, the time just flies.

take your MP3 player or something and concentrate on the music. Its more annoying than painful. There is a place in chch that actually offers anesthetic and know of at least 6 people who have used the emla cream with no problems, me included when i got the one on my spine cos i was told its really painful there but i didnt even realise he had started, didnt feel a thing.
Ive decided that getting my next tat will be my 10kg weight loss goal cos i really want to get it so hopefully that might help speed up the weight loss! I wonder if tats are more expensive up north then, neither of mine cost over $100 although they aren't that big.

mine cost $180 but that got a bit off it ill post a pic. It took about 2 hours. I personally find piercings more painful.
