I'm bored.
Got to thinking about a few things that get me going "what the?..."

How come girls and young women are sooo super keen to portray themselves as "100% Bitch" "0 %angel", "Playgirl" and the like?? I see stickers plastered all over girls and young womens cars everywhere, and tee shirts, worn with the "dont mess with me" expression and super plucked out eyebrows. What ever happened to being nice? Do they advertise theses "nasty bitch" traits cos they think boys will like them more? hhmmmm.

Also, something else that gets me. How come when I see families out, or couples, its ALWAYS (well, 95% of time)the MAN who is driving the car? Does having an appendge between your legs make you a better driver (statistics would say NO) Even when it is the women's car? I must admit, Rod prefers to drive when we go out, even in MY car, and I get to drive home when he has been drinking (woo hoo!) he says its a man thing...

And finally, how come so few middle aged drivers don't know their road rules, I.E give way rules. Heres an easy reminder. If you are going to get hit in your drivers door, GIVE WAY. Do the rules not apply after you hit menopause or get more than 40% grey hair coverage?

oooh oooh one more. How come young people DONT slow down when turning corners? hhhmmm????

Mostly driving related today... (Hell, I am bored)

Oh yeah, and this is pointed a little in step sons direction, but also at the 15 - 20 age group. Driving is a privledge, NOT a right.

I can answer one, I am just lazy and prefer dh to drive a lot of the time. It also depends, if we are going to something of his, he drives, mine, I drive (most the time), and since falling pregnant, any time after about 8pm i am so tired I prefer him to drive as it is safer (for those that are interested, driving while tired is as bad as driving drunk).

As for teen girls, I have absolutely no idea with them, I felt old the day I felt intimidated by them. Oh what a shock they will have when they enter the real world (oh and what gets me is most of them don't work so it is their parents buying them the clothes, my kids will be so uncool with the stuff we but them, but we wont accept our daughter, if we have one, wearing a boob tube and mini skirt at 13)

lol, my kids will be wearing nomads and three stripe trackies. I am actively raising nerds.

I just wondered about the driving thing. I love driving and I love driving my car. It just seems like such a hunting fishing driving man thing to do! "I'm the man, so I will drive!" never really stopped to think that maybe everyone else dosen't like driving..

my Dh drives all the time too - unless he is drunk or feeling unwell...its a male thing!!! even in my truck!!!

as for the slogans...well i had one tight tee that said "all this and brains too" = thought it was appropriate and when ilook at photos of the miniskirt i wore it with there is no wonder i got wolf whistles and asked out on the street!!! OMG I didnt realise my skirt was that short or that i was THAT hot at such a young age....wish i had known I might have taken better care to look after myself....

I hate driving so I try to make dp.

Why do people not indicate? drives me up the wall sometimes I wish I had a siren and could give people tickets.

Why do men try to act so tough when they are in public but when you get home they want to be tucked into bed and drink milos?

on the indicating thing, the new indication rules at roundabouts, when going straight through you indicate LEFT as you get off the round about, when turning right, indicate right, then indicate left as you get off. If you don't know how to do it right, don't do it at all!

The indicating rule is to indicate out of the roundabout only.

I have a FIL that does not deserve his licence for the way he drives, he fits in the over 50 age group (almost 60 I think) and is one dangerous driver. i have only ever been the car with him driving once and that was the last time.

Girls and their clothing - I hate it. There are some funny ones out there (my friend has a top that says "what the duck" and a pic of a duck) but the other ones degrading themselves are just dumb.

I really prefer not to drive - I have always been an avid passenger - I just like lookng around at hings too much! So i make DH drive no matter which car (usually mine because it is nicer), unless he has been drinking.

With the clothes, I don't know. Girls are so much more sexually aware so much younger. You get 8 year olds that really know how to flirt. it isn't cool to be good, it is cool to be bad and naughty - look at Lindsay Lohan and the like. The mags are full of the naughty brats and we wonder where kids get it from?

Lack of indicating drives me nuts, and as I cross 7 roundabouts between home and school, that one in particular annoys me.

Wy do people tailgate? That one gets to me. I am not going to speed up, and you aren't going to get there faster, especially if I brake suddenly and you go up my car's bum.

Willie is a truck driver. He drives a 46-foot truck and trailer. Ergo, he owns the road. Which makes him a shocker of a backseat (or passenger seat) driver. So he drives because I couldn't possibly drive as well as him

As for trampy girls, they don't intimidate me so much as make me a) angry that their parents allow them to dress/behave so trashy and b)sad that they haven't yet got enough self respect to know better. Remind me I said that in a few years when I have THREE teenage girls in trampy clothes.

And Bombshell - sorry, can't help you with the passionfruit plant love, I have NO idea! But having spent a few years in Avondale I can understand your disgust at the whole spitting in public thing. I had to spit all the time when I was pregnant (yucky hormone thing) but always made sure I had a box of tissues on hand.

My hubby always has to drive, not sure why but even in my car he has to drive unless he has been drinking. What annoys me most about this is that i have to answer all the why questions from Kobe while DH is 'busy driving' so i dont even get two minutes peace!

he he Maya - i will join you on that.. I see us having probs as mike is already saying about "my daughter will not wear that!!" and yeah, now i am a mum i can understand, but come on, when you were teenagers.. there were things that were in to wear.. whether be the skin-tight bubble-gum jeans, the short-shorts.. (again, back in) the denim mini-skirts right up to all the other risque things that were in throughout the 70s/80s/90s.. every generation frown upon the next with the clothing choices, sayings etc.. not till we look back on our own dodgy pics of teenage years that we realise it's just a bid to fit in and be cool.

Yes Paris can wear skirts but i buy em too long and make her wear shorts under them.. lol which is in at the mo anyway. eventually, I will definately say that i will have definate lines that will be drawn on what the girls will wear, but as long s they remember what respect is.. for themselves and others.. I won't care to terribly much how they dress.. as long as they don't look 18 at 13.

Not little Girls I am getting at, it is the 17 to 25 ish age group here!!!!! Drives me BATS. Whats wrong with being nice? why do we have to be seen as being "bitches" to be cool? Bitch isn't cool, its nasty and high maintenence...

Oh, and the indicating at roundabouts thing annoys me! I have always indicated when exiting the roundabout.. The ones the peeve me the most are the ones who are going straight through, but indicate that they are going right, then indicate left to exit! gggrrrrr!

Oh and one more... Baby on board signs... WHY??????????????????????? People aren't going to avoid crashing into you cos you have one! Sorry, I have probably just offended EVERY member on this board! (maybe I am a bitch after all???!!!)

OK so I never hada Baby on Board sign til my Dad bought one - his argument was that in New Plymouth (probably in the dark ages mind you) a lady had an accident and they got her out of the car and didn't realise she had a baby in the car and the baby died. So if you have a sign then they know there's a baby in the car. I did point out that even with a sign they'll be looking for A baby not two babies and a preschooler, but there was no arguing with his logic

Annie I fit into that age group  but I'm not one to dress like that (I promise). In Palmy our problem is the "little" girls (12-17) trying to look older than what they are just to get into Scarfies (Big Masssey/Student pub here). DH is with you on the Baby on Board signs he hates them.

Personally I think this relates back to many things.
1)Empowerment. It seems that womans lib. can count for crass as well but what you and me see as crass others see as power. I don't think there is anything wrong with other people doing it, power to them and all but I will try *try* to teach Olivia to see that real power and strength of mind isn't in a t shirt or bumper sticker.
2)Armour. You may not believe in what you are pitching but others might! It may be that it is the new make up kit. A t shirt that proclaims "Don't **** with me, I **** back!" will put up a barrier of sorts, and it does because some people see it as off putting.
3)Because I can. Well that is self explainitory!

Ohhh, I know, I know! It is because a fair few women and mothers don't have their license! Where as it is much more important for men to hold one. There are also some that don't like driving, are drive sharing and you probably might just notice that it is the man driving. And then of course the men that would prefer to drive themselves. I have no license but I would probably prefer not to drive now anyways so as I can keep an eye on Olivia in the back.

And finally, how come so few middle aged drivers don't know their road rules, I.E give way rules. Heres an easy reminder. If you are going to get hit in your drivers door, GIVE WAY. Do the rules not apply after you hit menopause or get more than 40% grey hair coverage?
My mother is THE worst driver in the WORLD! If it weren't for the fact that she is incredibly lucky she would have been in a much more serious car crash by now. I think her style of driving and lack of road knowledge has to do with not being retested as the licensing changed. There should be a standard retest at 55 to ascertain peoples road knowledge, Ok that sounds REALLY agest but the key to being in any field these days is upskilling and training. Shouldn't that apply to driving?

oooh oooh one more. How come young people DONT slow down when turning corners? hhhmmm????
How come people turn into one way systems and full turn into the other lane, yet again one of my mum's biggest pit falls and she does it so sneaky when I tell her off about it (it is illegal for you people that don't know)!

Mostly driving related today... (Hell, I am bored) Thanks goodness it is Monday again, P.S I HATE MONDAYS!

that's my excuse too, couldn't possible reach his high standards of "defensive driving" so it's easier to be a passenger, also means I get a nap ( God I have turned into such a Nanna

I don't get the Asian spitting thing either has it is illegal in some Asian countries to spit in public and they get tickets for it. But yet they do it here.

As for the driving I wish my partner would drive I have to drive all the time as he doesn't drive which I think is weird as he can drive he just doesn't wont to he only has his learners though. But I think the reason why the male drives all time is purely marchoness as they would feel less of a man if a female was to drive.
