Hi

I'm a bit confused.....

My DH and I have been trying for 3 months now. My cycle is normally a very regular 28 days. However I ovulated early this month (day 12), so do I still rely on my 28 day timetable, or do I work out 14 days from date of ovulation to know when my AF is due? The thing is, if I work on my 28 day cycle, my AF is due tomorrow. However, if I work on 14 days after ovulation, then AF was due last Saturday.

I haven't done a test yet because I've been reading how a lot of you didn't get a positive until 3 days after AF was due....so what date should I use??

By the way, sorry for not using all the abbreviations - I haven't got the hang of them yet!

It's a tricky one because some people get a BFP (positive) on the day they were due and others don't get one until a week later. I'd let tomorrow ride and test the following morning.

it really depends to be honest, you could just have a longer luteal phase this month by the 2 days, so I would try and wait to test till tomorrow to test. As for tests not working till 3 days after you are due, that depends on you, some women don't, I did a test 3 days before I was due and got a faint positive.

it can vary so much as to when you get your BFP. with jack, i tested the day before AF and got BFN, waited 2wks and then got BFP. with charli, i tested the day after AF was due and got a faint BFP
i'd also wait til tomorrow to test......good luck!

Typically you are spose to do 14 days after ovulation. Luetal phases can vary like Sarah Beth said but i would say that your offically late esp if u have a clockwork luetal phase Good luck

I've been told by the doc that the post-ovulatory phase of a cycle doesn't normally vary much in length - if your cycle length varies, it's usually in the first half - i.e. if you're normally 28 days, but this time ovulated 2 days early, then AF should be 2 days early.
hope that helps!

Some tests can pick up BFP 10 days post conception. I got this with both Kobe and the twins, with addison though it wasnt until about 3 days late that it finally came up positive.
Good luck.

My cycle varied by up to 5 days but it was always the first part- my luteal phase was always 12 days, like clockwork. Each person is different though! Good luck with testing tomorrow

Hi Salifer

My DH and I got married back in March 2006. We started TTC in November 2006. So I know we are extremely lucky to have fallen PG within such a short about of time.

I started planning for this baby many months ago. 2 years ago I went off the pill (it wasn't doing me or my body any favours!). My DH and I used condoms to prevent any early pregnancy. I have also had accunpuncture since April 2006, first for my migraines (which they have stopped! Touch wood!!) and then to get my body/cycle ready to conceive.

Once we were ttc we would do 'it' early second day from day 10 for about a week (I had a very regular 28 day cycle). This month we I got pg I noticed my EWCM so we did it that night, I OV the next night (I get OV pains - so I know when I OV!) and then we did it the following night. And then two nights after that.

I'm a strong believer in accupuncture and I really do believe that helped me get my body into shape.

I hope this helps

Oh, also. The night I think we conceived, I went out to dinner with a bunch of people....there were 3 pg ladies there.....maybe that also helped?? There would have been plenty of baby dust around that night

Good luck!

Thanks NikkiB........really nice to hear your background and sounds like you've been planning your family for long enough (with giving up the pill 2 years ago) so falling pregnant within 3 months is wonderful news. You must have done the right thing for your body to give up the pill so many years ago, enough time for your body to get back on track.

And I'm really really REALLY interested to hear about the accupuncture. Like you I've suffered from migraines for over 15 years now and after coming off the pill 5 years ago its seriously curved the frequency of them. I did still get them more often than I liked but can honestly say after starting on B vitamins over 8 months ago (along with folic acid, fish oil and a pre-natal vitamin) my migraines have almost ceased to exist!!!

But I think I might do some inquiry into acccupunture. I'm willing to give anything ago to stop the dredded migraines.

I had a very busy day at work on Thurs and came home absolutely EXHAUSTED. As a result - migraine crept in and I wasn't able to take my usual medication due to the fact that we're TTC. So slept on it only to wake Fri morning with my head still throbbing. DH raced off to buy panadol at 7am as I knew thats the only recommended meds to take to relieve pain. Oh the joys of suffering from migraines.

Salifer its safe to take codiene if that will help you.

I wouldn't wish migraines on my worst enemy!

I started to get migraines at the age of 18, I'm now 30. Nothing else has helped me like accupunture.

Good luck with TTC and with your migraines. If you do decided to try accupunture, I'd certainly look around. If you don't click with the accupuncturist, then I would go to someone else. It certainly helps with the treatment if you can get along with the person and feel comfortable with them.

So there you go, two of us succeeded this month, that's got to be pretty good odds heh!!!

Thanks Jezsika - didn't know codiene was all good to take while pregnant.
