I cracked a tooth while pregnant but didnt go to a dentist as i was told it wasnt something u do while pregnant, and totally forgot about the crack till the other day when i was brushing my teeth and the bristles hit a nerve or something in my tooth. i was in terrible pain (took panadol and was ok but can now feel the tooth, not sore exactly but noticable i believe i will have to have it pulled out. My question is, does any one know what pain relief dentists use and am i allowed it while breast feedin? Maybe ill go ring my dr and ask...

And if anyone knows if you can have a pain injection before a filling WHILE pregnant, I'd be curious? I have aweful toothache that I'm trying to ignore!

Well just got off the phone to the dentist and you are allowed the injection while breast feeding. Sorry only just read your post otherwise i would have asked about pregnancy!! I was told i wasnt tho, which is why i ignored the crack. From memory it wasnt the most reliable of sources tho.

Sparkle, yup you can. Just make sure they know you are preggy and there is a particular anesthetic they can use that is safe.
I had a filling done at about 16 weeks and had the anesthetic.

sparkle i too had a filling and a gum infection around 13 weeks or so? They did a lower level injection on me...and boy did i feel the pain BUT meant they were able to deal to it....and it worked...Id been in pain for weeks prior....

I also had xrays - they totally covered my body and said the machine used now was unlikely to cause problems but they were taking every precaution...they were so amazing...and the nurse rang to check on me every day for the next week!!!
