Ok now i could ask my MW by seen as i know that some of you lovely ladies will be able to answer my question i shall ask it here
Why am i finding it so hard to catch a breath!! like i have to enhale more often than usual (every few breaths!!) and i can never seem to get a good breath!! this has been going on for a few weeks now!!
Its a horrible feeling and no matter what i do it doesnt go away!!
I did have this when i was pregnant with Bay but i remember very well that it didnt set in till the very end and only when i was trying to sleep! and my MW had told me that it was just bubs pressing hard up against my breathing bits but im only 17 weeks now and bubs is sitting way up higher than Bay did but still dont think that can be it...
Can anyone tell me whats going on!!??

I had same thing with Jack and found some of the time it was from wearing tops too tight. Do you have asthma? pregnancy can make it worse.

Allergies?

I dont have any allergies except maybe the house work!! but it happens at random times.
Its calmed down a bit but hasnt fully gone away at this point, when i first put the post up an hour or so ago i was struggling a bit to breath!! while i typed!!!.
When i had it later on with Bay i would start freaking out because the panick would set in that i couldnt breath much at all but after a while i come to know that it would go away after a few hours and just to concentrate on breathing. I really hope it doesnt get worse as time goes on

That sounds awful! Maybe it is just to do with a combo of things - the extra blood flow, carrying a baby while chasing a toddler, something like that? It sounds like something to check with your MW next visit, anyway.

I had the same as you baysmum when I was around your stage. It was like I had to take really deep breaths and it still didn't feel like I was getting enough air. My MW said it was just because everything was moving around to make room for bubs and my body just needed to get used to the changes. It went away after a while but it was awful and there wasn't anything I could do about it. Hope it goes away soon.

Baby is taking great pleasure in squashing your poor lungs?

Hannah was the same, but with my bladder.

Yeah I remember that now getting all stressed about not being able to breath which makes it worse. I meant to say it was tight shelfbras or bras which were too tight.

Hrmmmm... also I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fact that your heart is trying its hardest to pump a whoooole lotta extra blood around too, which might have an effect of your breathing. (Don't ask me how... just theorising here )

So take it easy ok? And tell your midwife for sure

Get your iron levels checked - could be maybe you are very low and therefore your body isn't able to carry much oxygen - make syou feel very breathless. ( i think that's how it works.. has been a while lol)

I had my irons done at my last appointment a few weeks ago and it was 145 which she says is extremely good for a preggo.I had them checked when i was 6 weeks also (i think that was routine?) and it was 198!! and my doc was amazed along with my MW when she got to read the results!!.
I will definately be mentioning it though thanks ladies for all your advice and help

i actually found my asthma disappeared while pregnant - but i still had the sensation you had - it doesn't feel like asthma, well not to me anyway - my MW said it was baby pressing againest lungs and should go away as baby drops...onto your bladder and then you just have to pee every two minutes.

Can Bubs be pressing against lungs this early on??? (17 weeks)

I think it has something to do with the hormones - maybe progesterone (?) making you more breathless.

Woah! My "good" iron count at the last 2 pg checks I had was about 125!

Even though you've got high iron stores, you have dropped quite a bit so you probably will notice the difference even though you're still fine.... IMHO

Yip my MW couldnt beleive it when i told her what my iron was when doc did it at 6 weeks so she rung my doc and had her fax over the results!!! lol she said that its meant to drop a bit as the pregnancy progresses and she was going to put me on some kind of tablets to help store it just incase it went right down, not sure why though cos iv never had an iron problem not even when i was pregnant with my son!!

I got it and then even worse after I ahd Haleigh .
Mine was due to needing to change bra size, also when ever she kicked me up in my ribs I found it would come on too. In labour I pulle dmy head back when pushing rather than forward and did something which made it difficult to breath while walking for a few weeks or so.
Mine didnt last as long though mine jsut came and went, maybe talk to oyur midwife or GP about it
