I am beginning to use MCN mainly when i am home - will still use disposiables for going out and night time (as Rhyley sleeps thru)

What I want to know is:

How many do I need? I am using mainly peapods and have a few snazzipants. I have 4 at present but have ordered another 2. This is in the small size as I did get a Med (peapods here) and the gap at the leg is a bit big at present. He is approx 7kgs (will know for sure next week) It says peapods do till 9 months but only up to 9kgs. I suppose I should check when my other two were 9kgs to see when i have to go to the medium...

so if confused with my rambling 2 questions:

how many do I need?

When did your children go to the medium size?

lol I was wondering what pk stood for!!

How many - how many disposables are you going through a day at the moment? I managed with 6 once Hannah was a few months old. We went through 4-6 a day and I washed every night so they were dry and ready to go the next day. If you are using fitteds you may need a few more if you dont have a dryer, cos they take a lot longer to dry than pockets.

Mediums - Hannah has only really used Fuzzi Bunz. She went into mediums when she was 2 months and around 6kg. She fitted these until about 11 months (chubby thighs!). Apparently peadpods are quite big sizing, but Nikki should be able to help you more there.

Also, Hannah was sleeping 12 hours overnight at this stage too and she was in full time cloth - never had any major leaks and never had to change wet sheets. Be brave!

I've got the (just under) 7kg gremlins in small Peapods on the tightest snaps and medium Fuzzis on the tightest snaps, although the Fuzzis are a little on the big side so I have to stuff them with prefolds so they don't gape so much.

I think my two will be in the small Peapods well after 9kg,and I would say the medium Fuzzi's will probably do us for a good 12 mths at least.

Slightly OT... Briona is just growing out of medium FB now, she needs the extra height.

i think gabriel was in med fuzzis till 2 at least, i then went to petites for him cause it was just the rise that was too small.

I also had toby in a size 1 snazzi for ages too, and some mothers have had them in size 1 till 2 ...

it all depends on the size and shape of your bub as to how long they will fit.

and how many depends on how often you want to wash. 6-8 should prob be sufficient if you arent using them full time.

I deliberately didn't answer the "how many do you need" question cos the answer is "far less than I have"

Hrmmmm... how many do you neeeeeed... hrmmmm... depends how addicted you get really! I'd say 8-ish if you are going to wash every day - but that might be pushing it. 12 if you want to do it comfortably. More if you want to wash less. (I like washing every day though as I don't like them sitting around in the dry pail)

And I'd say go for size small peapods.

Oh yeah, and when it came down to it - I had more success overnight with MCN than I did with sposies. When Han leaked through MCN I changed absorbancy... when Han leaked through sposies I couldn't do anything to change them!

Yep we have definaltly had much better sucess with our Fuzzi's at night than we did with disposables. We use 2 inserts and a booster and that lasts fine for 12 hours. We are safe in the knowlegde her bum will stay dry

ive just got peapods as they are easier for me to get and good price i only have two but wow i love them and am excited about getting the rest i was a bit worried about night time to oh the thought of changing the bed if leaked but i sucked it up and went for it i just had one insert and a booster and so far touch wood we are great. im washing them every day at the mo as i only have two so want to use them at night and during the day im thinking of getting at least 6-8 of them and nappy linners flushable ones lol learnt that leason the hard way. my baby girl if you can call her that is 20mths old and i have her in medium but she is so tiny maybe 9kg maybe 10kg by now so may last till toliet training if all goes well and i may not need the bigger size. realy dont know what i was thinking all this time not having them wish they were easier to get and around when i had my son 5 years ago oh well better late then never i say.

I love my Peapods now. They were a bit leaky to start with, and I tried them again today without the booster and they leaked, but with an insert and a booster they seem to be pretty failproof and are really trim.

I know! Blimmin expensive, but soooo gorgeous... I can't wait for them to arrive! And I love the Snazzipants ladies

Ann - my Peapods have been in regular rotation for about 3 weeks now but they still leak if I just use the hemp. They work brilliantly with a booster tho

Just a question - what's the reason for not using MCNs for night time? Have they been leaking? or not absortbent enough?

I've always used them at night from day one and now Caitlin sleeps 11+ hours straight, still no leaks (We're using petite FBs with one large insert and a small one as a booster)

We just had our first night for Krystiana in FB with no probs I used 2 inserts and a booster from 9.30pm to 8.30am (yep she only woke once in that time). Yay!

AnnC, I too started using FB for days only, partly because I only bought six and also from nervousness lol. When I finally mustered enough courage I put 3 liners in... then 2 and a booster... and now it's just 2 liners. And that's for Hannah and Briona. If we have been out for dinner/supper and they have been drinking lots I need a booster as well. But it's impressive how much they (MCNs) hold!

I have 14 nappies for DD and find that I am washing every day but could probably get away with washing every second day if I needed to - would be pushing it on some days though! Most of those are medium Fuzzibunz (she is around 8.5kg), with a couple of yoyo nappies (bamboo fitted and a pocket), a drybees pocket and beyootiful ecobubs wool pocket, all medium sizes.
DD is on the second to smallest snaps on her FB. I am looking at getting some peapods too and considering experimenting with some AIO nappies...

I second that! My whole MCN addiction started when I was looking for a cheaper alternative to Dry Nites for Maya at night, and found HH trainers. We've only had the very occsional leak, usually when she is particularly wriggly. And so I got brave enough to try the gremlins in MCN at night and so far not a single leak!

i've just ordered charli an ecobubs wool pocket....was flicking through the threads at TNN and got convinced to buy one
mazzy...what do you think of your drybee nap?

i have both charli and jack in MCN fulltime and overnight i use a prefold, insert and hemp insert. probably a little overkill i think but i'd rather that than have leaks
jack has peapods for nights and charli has a mixture of peapods, FB's and wonderoos.

The drybee is pretty good, I find their sizing is a bit smaller than Fuzzibunz but still fits my girl fine (and she's not a small baby). I think the rise isn't as big? Still not sure if I understand what the rise is though - getting my head around all the terms!
DH really likes the drybee nap because of the velcro, he's not a snap fan. I also find the velcro is a nicer fit as sometimes DD seems to be between snaps on the fuzzis, too small on one snap and too big on the next one down. That is easily solved with more stuffing though. I've had no problems with leaks etc. with my drybee so will probably buy more if/when I need more nappies.

thanks mazzy
i don't NEED anymore nappies, had enough and just been on a buying spree yesterday getting more! i noticed that drybees are having a sale and i like there colour choices so might get a couple and see what they are like.

emma.....i'm so jealous of your berry plush!!! they are gorgeous!!!

reason for not at night is leakage - i don't fancy changing Rhyley's bed at night nor do i want him sleeping in a wet bed/clothes all night if it didn't wake him up. Even now with MCN he can get leakage at the thigh (only a little and nothing that bothers me) and thats after only having them on 3 hours max.
