Just "disposed" of a huge whitetail spider that was running across my lounge floor I had to spray the little bugger about 5 times before he stopped!!! We are moving on the weekend so surrounded by boxes and I have no idea where it came from. I've got the heeby jeebys now and I can feel things crawling on me And hubby is away for the night too which just makes it worse

They are awful aren't they. I saw one in our toilet ont he wall the other day and made DH get rid of it. Normally i do spider disposal (as I don't like killing anything so i rescue them and take them outside), but a white tail is different. When he sprayed it it jumped at him! But he got it in the end.

Bloody ugly about sums it up!!! They are jet black and have quite an oblong body with just a tiny white dot on their backsides. My mother in law had one crawl down her bra in bed and man did that little bugger bite the heck out of her. She was crook for weeks and had to take anti- inflammatries (sp)for quite a while. We have caught five in our lounge in the last year. luckily no one has been bitten.

Yeh they are very ugly. I studied it for a while once I was sure it was dead and once all the white foam from the flyspray dried up I've been busy checking everything in the lounge cos it was right next to the blanket that Ashleigh plays on They are cetainly nasty little things - a friend was bitten by one a few years ago and still suffers problems in his leg from it.

They look like this:
My last house had heaps of them and I have seen a few at my house now, but to be honest they are really common now so it's just a matter of spot and kill.

"Normally i do spider disposal (as I don't like killing anything so i rescue them and take them outside)"
he he he... me too!! I'm the same - only whitetails get the chop. Our kitten hunts insects and brought a huge one inside, still very alive and fiesty. Yeeck. And Roksana and Jess, don't worry - they're pretty distinctive once you've seen one. The white dot is usually really clear on them.

So I see...the ones in my house either have the really long legs....or button like small and black
I know I should pick them up and take them outside....but I am not going near one...so if hubby is not home they get the chop and vacume!!

STOP POSTING SPIDER PICTURES!!!!!
I hate spiders soooooooooooooo much (as i think ive told everyone a thousand times) I knew i shouldnt have continued reading this thread after the first post, now i have to go and check my bedroom adn the kids rooms. We had so many white tails here i made the landlord get it spider proofed. Found a massive massive one in addisons room on her bookcase and that was the last straw.
God I cant even watch Charlottes Web because of the spider.
Next time someone wants to post a spider picture do a big warning then the picture or I will have nightmares for weeks

That's asking for trouble Robyn
I personally aren't too worried about spiders (after checking for white of course) but other creepy crawlies really get me. Palmy Nth is one big ant hill and while ants don't freak me out, I have slowly got used to squishing them with my finger and then washing up - rather than having to grab a tissue to squish with lol.
I think we've had a week or two of it here though. First we had a cockroach on the wall in my bedroom, of course it had to be one of those nights that I went to bed first so I got DH to get rid of it for me but, unfortunately for me, he has a facsination with such things so now it is sitting in a jar of water in my kitchen because DH wanted to see how long it would, well, wriggle for.
Then we had a nosey little bird come in and trap itself in our family room. I can't handle a terrified flapping bird anywhere near me! So DH to the rescue there again.
On Tuesday I went to get the rubbish from the garage (rubbish collection day) but the garage was slightly open and when I opened the door, it reeked.... a cat was right there having freshly laid it's solids I yelled with fright (I'm not a fan of cats I don't know) and she ran further inside lol - oops. So I left the garage for a while - 1/2 hour or longer - so the cat would get lost without me being anywhere around. Another bad move. I went in later to get the rubbish out, couldn't see her anywhere in sight, and shut the door.... then on Friday when I went to get the stroller out, I saw her in there again, but we hadn't used the garage from Tuesday to Friday!!! Hope that means she's learnt her lesson
Another exciting week.... better not have too many more of them!

There are heaps here on the Kapiti Coast and with our move into our new house a couple of weeks ago we also discovered an ant infestation - therefore, we have had the house sprayed for all creepy crawlies - they now die on contact with the 'barrier' in and around the house. I found a white tail dead on the floor in the lounge yesterday - nasty little creatures they are.
Would recommend getting sprayed to everyone, especially with curious babies....

Eeeewwwww on Sat we were cleaning up the garden shed (which I might add is well looked after by hubby). Any who.....He took every thing out sweeped and thought he'd spray it with the bug killer and here pops out this black spider (looks exactly like the second pics) and I spray it to death ...and it was still moving after 1/2 hour.....ewwww....I waited to see if it had a white dot at the back but could see any thing!!
Arrrggg I hate spiders!! My hubby has sprayed the out side of the house and he will do inside of the house this coming weekend!!
Did I mention I hate spiders????
