I thought I'd start this topic to get in touch with others who are back at work and feel awful for it...

I'm only back part time at the moment, but I agreed to it when I was still pregnant and thought that when she was 3 1/2 months that she would be really old, but how wrong was I ?!?!?!

Deep down, I know that it is good for her to be looked after by other people (she has her nana when I'm at work), and also good for me to have some time back in the professional world (but I must admit, I'm not used to being out of my PJ's by 7.30am...LOL )

Anyway, I'm getting used to it. Am coming into my third week back this week and am doing 2 days...

I'm starting back on 1 March, but am lucky that I work from home so can work around the girls for the first few months at least. Have enrolled them to start daycare in Feb next year, but might look at getting a nanny in later in the year if I get too stressed.

Emma, that is fantastic you get to work from home!

It certainly is a hard decision to go back to work... got to pay the mortgage somehow though!

With Andrew I went to a fulltime job when he was 5 months old. He was in daycare 3 days a week 11-5 and his dad had him the other 2 days while I was at work. So didn't work for me, I ended up with PND and had to cut my hours back at work (I did have a great boss). Funny thing is i'm going to try fulltime work when this one is 4 months old ish as we can't survive without me working. It will be hard but DH is going to work part time once I am sorted in a fulltime (hopefully only 30 hours a week) as he will be leaving us for the year next year to spend it in Waioru (sp) at the army base there doing officer training.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I'm going to start looking for apart time job when James is 1year old if I can find one that I can do from home that would be great if not I will work 3days max I'm so not looking forward to it.

But like Anna said you have to pay the mortgage somehow if only we still traded with stones.

Anna, I went back to work after my paid parental leave ran out (3 1/2 months) I think I balled everyday for ages after I dropped Caitlin off at my Mums (aren't Nanna's the best!).

Just wanted to let you know that is does get easier (eventually) and you end up spending more quality time with bubs, which can only be a good thing.

I'm dreading this week - I'm going to Wellington for work and will be away from my baby for two whole nights I can just see myself blubbing the whole flight there

I remember the first time I was away for the night from the kids and couldn't wait.....full night of sleep, no interruptions, breakfast at the hotel etc etc but in realty I just missed them all so much I was counting the hours down till I saw them again (although the sleep was good!).

I went back, part time when Joshua was almost 5 months. Heartbreaking He stays at home with Daddy in the mornings as DP works from home, and then I am home by the time he wakes from his afternoon sleep. I still find it very hard every morning leaving him, especially today as he is not very well, and although I know DP takes excellent care of him, it's still not the same as mummy...... wah wah wah

I also work part time (Mon/Wed and the equivalent to another day over the rest of the week from home). It was very hard at first but when you have great childcare, its heaps easier.

I look forward to seeing my baby at the end of the working day (butterflies in my tummy) and enjoy the time I do actually have with her on the days inbetween.

it just took me over an hour of blubbing and a new face of make up before I could leave Caitlin at my Mum's this morning (going to Wellington today for 2 days, then DH and bubs will fly down on Thursday).

I know she will be looked after but I'm gonna miss her sooooooo much
